You guys don't remember the much pumped up "Stadium Threat" from just before the elections?

It was a couple of guys on internet forums posting about hypothetical attacks on US soil, and our response to them.  The guys were arrested, and a big stink was made of it, despite the fact that 3 of the stadiums were "Fictitious". I think hes getting 5 years in prison or some such shit.  Haven't really kept up on it, but Keith Olbermann did a piece on it, showing what they actually wrote, and how even a moron would know it was fake "What if" nonsense.

http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,20619500-1702,00.html

Quite honestly, these days people are being arrested for about anything.  Like the guy that was arrested for telling Cheney he "Disagreed with his policies"..

http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/local/article/0,1299,DRMN_15_5040783,00.html

Can you not clearly see the difference between that situation and open discussion about a hypothetical?  Ugh.

Sorry, should have been more specific.  I meant politically, at home, and militarily, abroad.

Well I think we've learned that we would have no idea who did it or how to get them.

Hopefully we would wait work the clues, nail down who actually did it and then find a way to knock them out.

On a local level, I'd probably buy some ammo. Maybe a new gun or two in case that was just the pretex to a larger set of attacks and the ensuing chaos to follow.

Was talking about this one with a friend the other night.  We broke it down into four separate scenarios.  In all three, assume that Al-Qaeda takes responsibility for the blast and shouts out to the world what they've done.  For the sake of argument, let's set the nuke at 100 kilotons at ground level--enough to do a heaping helping of damage from the blast AND create fallout.

(1) A "mid-major" city, so to speak.  Something like a, say, Nashville, Tennessee.
(2) A major city that ISN'T NYC or Washington DC
(3) NYC, Wall Street
(4) Washington DC

I'll chime back in later with my own opinions, promise--I don't want my views to influence the discussion (who, moi?)

A couple of guys were arrested for posting something like this a few months back.  Better be careful, big brother *IS* watching, and your constitutional rights are slim these days.

Talk about vagaries.

That'd be awesome!

No.  The Pats will win the game but then eventually lose to the Colts.

That's right... the Colts.

gellar

You know Peyton Manning was just praying the Chargers won the game...I think the last thing the Colts want is to face the NE Patsies in the playoffs.

Agreed... but can you imagine the Colts D playing against LT?  That would've been amusing, despite the recent "resurgence" of the defense.

That being said, my half of my prediction came through and I still stand on the 2nd half of it.  The Colts are going to be amped for this game, and Manning has played 2 bad games in a row.  Gotta figure he'll be up for this.  The matchup is extremely favorable for the Colts, as the NE pass D is merely good, not great and NE has no real running game to speak of.

Colts go to the Superbowl, where they get crushed by the Saints and Superbowl MVP Reggie Bush.

100% PRECISE AND ACCURATE.

gellar

See, this is where I think Belichick (as I say his name through gnashed teeth) rises. I think they go in there, defy conventional wisdom (again) and beat the Colts. The Bears win the other game, it's gonna be in the upper 20's/low 30's next Sunday and the dome Saints will not play well in that.

Did you miss the part where I said my predictions were 100% PRECISE AND ACCURATE?

Do not doubt me, sir.

gellar

I'd like the colts to win, but I so hope you're wrong.  Just to see you eat rice crow.

+1 to the analyst part, but I don't think availability will be an issue.  According to itrackr.com the PS3 has been available in 24 store around the Columbus area for a week or two.  I've been fighting the temptation to break my resolution and buy a new shiney since I can't find a Wii.   Every time I stop in the local EBGames to check and see if they have any Wii's they go 'no, but there's a PS3 with your name on it in the back'.  icon_lol

Now that you mention it, it is kinda like the old west.  KD just roughed someone up and as they're crawling out of town on bloodied stumps with swollen eyes and their teeth leaving a trail behind them, he spits and says 'Welcome to GamingTrend.'

That's hot!  thumbsup

Or like Will Smith when he punches the alien in the head and yells 'Welcome to earf!'

Is there any way to tell when you've collected all the artifacts on a planet?

How many are on each planet?

I think there are two per planet.  If you haven't collected the first one, the second one will not be available.

How do you use the map? It makes no stinking sense to me.

The logbook makes no sense to me.

It shows 85% on weapons when I don't even have most of them.

It also doesn't tell me which artifacts are still remaining nor what planets they're on.

It's been a while.  I'll take a look at the SP game again (I keep it now for MP).

There are far more than 2 artifacts. Maybe there are only 2 obelisk things or whatever....

The lack of a coherent map may be bring about the untimely end of my play for this game.

Everythign I said up top is true, but I can get lost only so many times.
