1  Non-Gaming / Political / Religious Nonsense / Palin's Back on: Today at 12:44:57 AM
Palin, who was not previously thought to be considering a run, told The Washington Post on Friday that she is mulling a bid. "You can absolutely say that I am seriously interested," Palin said.

The RNC should not even let her near this campaign.

It's not a joke to me. I'm far from the die hard fan I used to be, but allowing cheaters a pass will further deteriorate the integrity of the game.

It makes me mad.

It makes me mad that Brad Johnson did it. He was - I thought- a stand up guy and I used to cheer for him when I was in DC and he played for the Skins.  Now I think he's a piece of garbage.

I frigging hate cheaters.

Finished the book and am now working on the commentaries.

I think the complexity of the story he's writing is well executed and the writing is still very solid.

However, the emotional impact (with the exception of a few strips toward the end) is significantly less than the last one.

I give it a good 4/5 and it's a solid continuation of the story.

Also, reading all of these throwback gags just a few pages apart from each other sort of diminished them and I had to remind myself that this was 5 years worth of material and some of these strips were separated by many weeks or months.

My decision now is do I read along for the rest of the way or do I wait another 5 years for the next book?

Not sure yet.

Just get used to him planning on games for personnel or skill types your team doesn't have.

I really like this.  I need to be far more proactive with these in my marriage as well, as I tend to really take her for granted.  This sort of daily affirmation will be a really good place to start.

Thanks for this input ATB.   thumbsup

21  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Relationship Help on: January 07, 2015, 02:09:35 AM
As i mentioned before, my wife and I had a pretty big flare up at the end of 2014.  A lot of it had to do with the way that I (almost always) unintentionally make her feel...less than and/or prove her side of a decision.  Other areas included how selfish I've become with my time.

During this HEATED back and forth she said a few things specifically that resonated with me.  So now, every day I ask her three things before we go to sleep:

1. Have I made you feel loved today?
2. Have I made you feel cherished today?
3. Have I led you spiritually today?

These three questions and the impacts they've had on how i approach everything in the relationship have renewed an amazing sense of joy in our relationship.  It's pretty awesome and I praise God fo rit.

I think if you can get past the revisionist history (as rittchard so amazingly put it) that you never loved her and start asking these questions to her things will be illuminated in your character (and hers) and how you treat her that will allow you to heal and reunite.

My wife and I had some pretty heavy discussions in the past week or so- getting some really hurtful things on the table. Admittedly, most of them are my fault.  I am so optimistic right now about how we've recalibrated some things so that we will continue to grow and grow back together that I'm bursting with a joy I haven't known in a long time.

It will take an incredible amount of work.

Three things that differ from you:

1. We've never even considered divorce and never will. We promised that to each other long before we were married.

2. We are diving back in full hearted into seeking God again. Not with the scraps of our time, but as a priority and together.  I still contend that you truly need to seek Christ absent the lies of your former religion.

3. I am madly truly deeply in love with my wife and always have been.  You say you're not and never have been. Frankly, I think you're full of shit.  I think you're going through a patch where it's not what it is supposed to be in your head, or you've changed and are becoming more selfish.  No offense.

Also, 'not having anything in common' is easily fixable. But you have to be willing to work at it.

Happy New Year everyone.

I think this year has been another solid B.

  • I found a job that I really enjoy. Worked through some major obstacles to (mostly) deliver the project successfully
  • Family has been healthy and comfortable
  • Have begun putting into place some measures to make the big issues in life front and center
  • Read some great books- I recommend Joe Abercrombie. Love his work

  • I gained back all the weight I lost last year
  • Struggled spiritually due to neglect in reading the Word of God
  • Had a tough end to the year with sickness, hitting a deer with the car, and getting some key relationships back on track
  • GT has become a ghost town even more than last year
  • Knew better than to buy a next gen console. There were really no GREAT games this year that I played and there's not much I'm looking forward to next year either. Kind of transitioning out of video gaming.
  • Didn't read as much as I would have liked

I hope that 2014 has been okay for you and I hope that 2015 is your best year ever.

Don't think Orton was the future, but him jumping ship with no notice leaves the bills short. They can't just throw in Manuel...

You didn't mention what kind of router... I'd be curious to know, I'm sure others would as well.

To answer the question... I wouldn't normally think they get that warm... err... normally. The power supply might, depending... my dlink's wall-wart was quite warm to the touch for a year or two before it failed, forcing me to source a replacement. (hint: radio shack has what you need) (the replacement does NOT get warm, which is reassuring)

Assuming there's nothing actually wrong with the router, and it does simply get warm to the touch... yes, a fan, or place it so it sits in the airflow for an a/c duct, or something. In particular, don't put it in a cramped space with poor airflow, like a closet/cabinet.

Well...the router is in the's a pretty big closet...but it's still a closet.

Have a new router.

It's quite warm to the touch.  I've done a little looking into 'router cooling plates' or whatever they're called and they all rate crappy.

Any suggestions?  For keeping it cool? Is a regular old fan the way to go? Any recommendations?

My thought is this.  If you can wait a year do.  There's nothing on xb1 that I can fully endorse as worth a purchase.  Its Christmas eve of the first year of release and I'm playing games on the 360.
