3401  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Recommend me a good pair of gaming headphones. on: October 11, 2004, 07:36:15 PM
I don't need surround sound or anything fancy like that, as I'm gaming on a laptop which uses an AC97 codec for sound--thus, any fancy feature-supporting headphones would go to waste.

So, what's a solid, affordable, baseline model worth looking into?
3402  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Sell me on another browser than IE on: October 11, 2004, 07:34:29 PM
Opera.

On the surface it's nigh identical to Firefox, but after you use it for awhile and learn its subtlties... any other browser really pales in comparison.

Oh, Ebonstone, we need you here....
Hey now.  If you want a sacrifice, look at Runningman.  He ruined the forums, after all.
3405  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / So what monthly fee would you pay for the GoneGold Forums? on: October 11, 2004, 07:00:58 PM
I'll click on an ad banner if it's something I'm interested in (and it gets through Opera).

But a subscription?  I'd sooner put the money toward porn or an MMOG.

I also agree with the current No R&P rule.  Forums that discuss things other than R&P are simply better off without any R&P at all.
3408  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Any interest in Dominions 2? on: October 10, 2004, 08:48:42 PM
Would anyone be interested in starting up a Dominions 2 game?  We could either do PBEM or meet in IRC and agree on a server for a faster-paced game.  I'd prefer the latter, since I believe the game is better played quickly, but if there's enough of a PBEM interest, we could do that instead.

Post here if interested.

Jeff, this situation positively *begs* for some of your favorite GG forum rejects to show up and cause trouble.

We've got a fake MSD and several banned parties already starting.  Just ignore them.  I know the CG forum staff is plenty capable of handling any problems.  For our part, we should not pay potential problems any attention whatsoever.
While I qualify as a banned party, I'd like to make it clear that I have no intention of causing trouble.  Now that we're on a forum that has a little more sensible moderation, I seriously doubt I'll be inclined to take matters into my own hands when it comes to abusive users.

Sorry, that was a typo.  It's the original Shadow Hearts.

Oh, it's not bothering me, I just expected a more serious tone to begin with, what with the setting and all.  No biggie.  I'd probably play til the end even if it never got serious, just because the battle system is surprisingly fluid and the graphics/animations are fun to watch.

Drazzil is here.
Chris Grenard?

How about the "J"'s: jblank, jshaw?
Are all the Raven's here?
All the Lord's?
Eliot?
Rhett?
I want to know where lorax is.  Not to wave him over and invite him in, but rather to insure he never finds this place.

U2K would be a fun addition, though.  Unless you seriously were him, warning.

What about Ironrod?  Haven't seen him about.

Funcom had free trials awhile ago... it's not that they're desperate, it's that the latest expansion to AO, Alien Invasion, was just released--and what better way to advertise your new, $30 expansion than by giving away the original game?
3415  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Shadow Hearts Covenant - VERY Impressed on: October 09, 2004, 03:42:48 PM
As long as it gets some seriousness in soon, I'll be happy.

Possible Spoiler

I'm at the part with the Grand Papillio in the small town after Paris, and it's just so bizarre that it's almost disheartening.  Sure, I'm all for breaking up a Final-Fantasyesque melodrama with humor, but the last bit of serious plot I felt like I experienced was the first trip to the Graveyard... at the moment, I feel like I don't know where I'm supposed to be going, nor do I know why I'm going there.

Does the plot start coagulating soon?  Am I still in the "introduce and recruit the characters" section of the game?

Off topic a bit- DS is a freakin' twit. I refrained from stating my opinion over at GG, but after reading that post of his, I cannot resist. Sorry.
You were wise to refrain from saying that on GG--chances are you would have gotten banned.

I absolutely adore Derek's ban email, especially the part where "Imlawboy" admits the entire staff had been pandering to Derek for years now.  None of the moderators would ever publically admit they unfairly defended Derek, but it was painfully obvious.  It made for some bad tension.

I was just wondering if this would be the best fit (it may well be) for the whole of the GG crowd. And letting people know that there's an option of fully compatible forum, just waiting to be made.
I sincerely hope CG doesn't bend to fit the influx of GGer's opinions on how it 'should' be.  Sure, if GG really is dead, a PC/Console division might be nice, but other than that, I'd rather the place stay like it is.

In short, don't bend the place to fit the individual, let the individual bend to fit the place.

Ebonstone, why did you have crawl from under your rock to find this place?

Please go away.
Crawl out from under my rock?  I've been on GG since I was first (and secondly) banned.  In fact, before this cataclysm, I'd just gotten banned again.

In short, you've been living with me all this time and it didn't hurt you a bit.  But I understand how cool it feels to join the witch hunt, so I'll just give you an awkward smile while backing away slowly...

Quote from: "pr0ner"

Don't you think Ebonstone should be banned just for his .sig?  Pretty classless, if you ask me.

Mike

You wouldn't happen to be ExecutionerFive on QT3, would you?  Because that's a very ExecutionerFive like thing to say.  Of course, you haven't offered a bounty for my banning yet, so you might not be him.

Oh, and I'm sorry my ".sig" is tasteless.  I know it's bad to flaunt the fact I got a copy of Katamari Damacy, but I couldn't resist.
3422  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / FS/T: Charcoal GBA-SP w/ Mario Golf; Shadow Hearts 1 on: October 09, 2004, 01:50:47 AM
I'm looking to trade or sell the following:

Charcoal GBA-SP with Mario Golf Advance Tour. -- $70 shipped

(The GBA-SP has a few light scratches on the exterior but its screen is perfect.  Comes with the packaged AC Adapter/Charger.  Packaging is not included.  Mario Golf is cart only.)

Shadow Hearts 1 -- $15 shipped

(Pick your poison:  either a used, good condition original, or a sealed, brand new promo copy.  Only one will be traded--I'm keeping the other!)

Star Ocean: Till the End of Time Strategy Guide  -- $10 shipped

Prices are negotiable, but please do so over PM or (preferably) email.

Now, my Want List:

-Warlords Battlecry 3
-Demise: Rise of the Ku'tan download code
-Half-Life 2 Preorder (yeah right, but worth a shot... maybe someone has an ATI coupon for trade?)

Don't have what I'm looking for and aren't interested in purchase?  Send me a list of what you have, and I'll be happy to at least look it over.

Thanks for reading...

AO was a fun game while it lasted.  Shadowlands, the expansion to AO, was a pretty cool place, even from just a visual standpoint.  The whole thing was like a bad acid trip... I loved it.

Yeah, they moved to seperate servers awhile ago.

Knight--sorry for stepping on your Rich toe.  It's cool if you are friends or whatnot, just, if you're running this place "as Rich would have wanted," I'm going to go ahead and abandon ship.  Actions "in Rich's name" ruined Gone Gold, and I'd hate to see it happen here.

Could be.

I've always fancied a Weekend At Bernie's-like situation where Rich has been dead for a long time now and individuals are just using him and his 'good name' to further their own selfish ends.

That's just me, though.

Mmm, good news indeed if that cesspool of a forum is dead.

The P&R forum, along with the subsequent moderator aggression, influx of taddletail crybabies, and exodus of several key forum members cursed Gone Gold to extinction.

Still bitter over getting banned, not once, but TWICE, from that forum?  Good Lord.

Actually it's three times nowadays.

I'm not bitter that I was banned, I'm bitter that the place got as fucked up as it did.

Of course, maybe it's just a technical glitch.  A pity if it's something that... temporary, though.
