This is the game Bill Harris at Dubious Quality mentioned some time back in his favorite games of 2010 as a mystery indie game. It is sort of like Puzzle Quest, but you don't alternate turns with an enemy (so you can set up combos). Instead there are cards that represent different opponents, quests, etc. which have various requirements in order to defeat/complete them.
