I'm thinking of starting some playthroughs of FFT and Valkryia Chronicles on my PSP.  I may purchase a Vita sometime before I finish those two games and I don't exactly have a lot of games to play so if I do I would like to be able to transfer the save game files from my PSP to the now hypothetical Vita.  Is this a fairly easy process?

Yes, it's easy. I did this myself. Just connect the PSP with your PS3 through an USB cable as usual and transfer over your saves using the PS3's interface. To transfer these over to the Vita you need to connect the PS3 and Vita with a USB-cable and use the Vita's Content Manager. It should be fairly self-explanatory.

The only game I've had a problem with is Daxter.

I transfered the saves fine, but the game doesn't recognize them.  Additionally, I tried saving new saves in game and copying the old ones back over, hoping they would overwrite.  Now I have two copies of all of the save slots.

Does anyone know a way around this?

That's like blaming owls because I suck at making analogies.
