The Atelier series of games is known for being pretty laden with T&A and a whole lot of not so subtle innuendo and such. I believe the last few basically involve getting close to a bunch of magical girls that empower you by you sticking crystals into them if they like you enough.

I've only played one Atelier game (Atelier Annie), and don't remember it being overly skeezy.  Maybe I just wasn't paying enough attention, but I thought it was a pretty solid JRPG.

So I guess there's not going to be a Vita 2000 any time soon.  Perhaps it's finally time to bite.

it took about 3 years for the PSP-2000 to come out, so I imagine if there is a new version of the hardware they won't announce anything until some time next year.

The Vita 2000 was rumored to be losing the OLED screen to cut down on cost so it might be better to get an original.

If you have Playstation Plus, two of the Vita games you get for free right now are Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Gravity Rush.  Throw in the recent price drop and I can't imagine a better entry point.

I wouldn't say those memory card price drops are quite drastic enough, but hopefully this means that the actual retail prices will be quite a bit lower just like they were at the original prices.  I think I paid $75 for a 32GB card from Amazon back near launch.

Well, Sony has just announced a new "more casual" PS Vita model.

Quote
Sony has just announced a new PS Vita model at its Tokyo Game Show conference, as it aims to pull in more casual gamers with an "easy-to-use" model.

The new PCH-2000 series of the PS Vita is thinner and lighter, and comes with 1GB memory built-in. The battery level has been expanded by one hour, and the handheld uses micro-USB.

Sony says that this new version of the handheld is a more casual edition, aimed at bringing more casual players in. Sony noted that it hopes more women will buy a PS Vita as a result.

The new console will also come in a whole host of new colours, including yellow, blue, pink and grey. A new 64GB memory card will also be made available for the system.

The handheld will be released on October 10, and will cost a base price of 18,980 yen ($190.33). There is no word as of yet of when this model will released in the West.

Yup. This is the cheaper version of the Vita. The one we already have should probably be considered the "premium" version.

Price is king in the dedicated console market, after the basic features are set that is. Just look at how much a price drop helped the 3DS.

Another big plus to me is a standard micro-usb port, instead of yet another stupid plug type.

But, no point in getting this since I already have the base model, but a good step for the Vita overall.

Sony also announced Vita TV, a device that hooks to your TV and lets you play (non touchscreen-using) Vita games.

This basically means required support for features like touch controls are gone.

Overall, I think this is a silly little box, not sure what they were thinking.

Why would anyone want required touch features? If they're required then they're going to be useless. Leave touch features for games that are actually touch games like brain training and the like. Games like Uncharted don't need touch features. Touch is a gimmick.

It also lets you stream PS4 to another room and does tv apps. This actually may end up being very popular.

Well, my wife got me a Vita for our anniversary.  It certainly wowed me more than the PSP or the 3DS did.  Also, for the first time, my instant game collection feels like an instant game collection.  It's nice to game choices when just starting out with the system.  I apologize to anyone on my friends list getting spammed with announcements that I installed or started a new game.

Yeah, from everything I have seen about it, it looks like an awesome addition to the PS line of products.

That said, I can't wait to play my PS4 games on my Vita. I loved that part about the Wii U.

Strike that. Reverse it.

Weren't on the bottom or were on the top. The bottom is a terrible place of the jack. It makes it annoying to rest the unit on your stomach when lying down.

It's the same thing with the PS4's controller, and both are good changes. I had to keep specific USB cables around in my living room merely to charge my controllers with the PS3. Now I can use the same cables as I use for my cell phone and computer mouse.

Wait, you sure the DS4 is using micro USB plugs instead of mini USB?

I was going to get a bunch of extra long cables to run from the PS4 under the rug to the couch in case of emergency charging. So it's kind of important to me.

That's what I heard. With micro USB having become common with cell phones and other equipment, it's only natural for them to want to move over to that standard.

You should of course fact check this on your own just to make sure. I'm going by memory here.

The original dedicated power/transfer cable has now been replaced with a micro USB, allowing convienience of use as well as portability; the original power adapter stays with the original PS Vita. With regards to actual battery life, the PS Vita PCH-2000 boast an extra hour for 4-6 hours of active use.

Isn't that quote about the new Vita? We're digressing a bit from the thread topic and discussing the DualShock 4 for the PS4 and whether or not it also features micro USB.

damn, I always thought the PS3 charging cables were micro USB, never noticed the one I had laying around as an extra is just a bit bigger than the other mirco usb's I have.

Oops sorry I got confused!

Back on topic, I almost ordered an import version of the new Vita for kicks.  I like the new color schemes and the idea of better battery life and smaller size.  I read the LCD screen is not as good as the OLED but is still pretty good.  But... I changed my mind at the last minute.  Hoping they'll announce a US version soon.

The OLED screen is awesome. I would take worse battery life and bigger size for a better screen any day.
