I can only imagine the "who's on first" routines that will occur in the future. (Hey, you said you were selling a New 3DS! this one  is used!)

I seem to remember a similar wave of confusion when an iPad newer than New iPad released.

I imagine it will go something like this.

Can't find that New 3DS anywhere? Can't find that Amiibo either?

Reality Check: Nintendo is Awful. Seriously, they have no damn idea what they're doing nowadays. Although according to comments it seems it's a NOA issue and not Nintendo as a whole. Who knows.

I don't think I understand what makes Nintendo terrible.  I stood outside starting at 4 in the morning to get a PS2 many years ago.  I bought an Xbox 360 from someone in Canada because there were none in the US.  I have paid upwards of $100 for games which are in short supply.

This is not something about Nintendo.  It is how the market works, or at least how we have let it work.

I got lucky at Target.  None of the other stores near me seemed to know when they would get more.  Target seemed to have the best handle on new shipments coming.  I walked into the store around 9:30am and they had their new stock sitting on the counter behind the register (2 black and 3 red).

I was surprised how clueless my local Best Buy was about their shipments, they used to be my go to for things like that.  Their display case was still full of the regular 3ds XL and 2ds.

I just picked up one today at Gamestop. Checking their store availability online seems to be pretty reliable.

I pre-ordered from Amazon.  I don't have much confidence that retailers are going to receive many copies.  I'll be happy if it plays fairly close to the Wii version.

So last night I played the new Zelda with the 3d on with the new 3ds.  I found it actually worked.  I mention this because I never could get it to work on the old 3ds and had 3d turned off all the time.

I am very happy they did the face tracking update.

I thought this fit here.

Nintendo's 3DS beats out PS4 and Xbox One for February hardware sales

Quote

Nintendo's 3DS platform outsold Xbox One and PlayStation 4 throughout February in the U.S., the company's American arm announced in a press release following data provided by The NPD Group.

The 3DS family, which emcompasses the Nintendo 3DS, 3DS XL and the New 3DS XL, sold 395,000 units across the U.S. last month. According to Nintendo, "The great majority of these sales were New Nintendo 3DS XL systems, which sold 130 percent more units in its initial frame than Nintendo 3DS XL did when it launched."

During the first two months of this year, sales of 3DS hardware have increased more than 90 percent compared to this same period last year. The recently released The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask was the top-selling game of February as well, while Nintendo's Wii U sales have increased by more than 20 percent over sales during the same period in 2014.

Sony's PlayStation 4 is February's highest-selling home console in the U.S., it was also announced. According to Sony, this refers specifically to home console sales and not overall hardware, adding that the PS4 remains the "cumulative leader in hardware sales with more than 20.2 million units sold" worldwide.

Microsoft notes a similarly positive February for its Xbox One, stating it's experienced "record February sales in the U.S." with 84 percent more consoles sold compared to January 2015.

"All three categories of hardware, new physical software, and accessories experienced sales increases in February 2015 with combined sales of $956 million, up 8 percent over last February," said The NPD Group's Liam Callahan.

And the new 3DS didn't even come out until Feb 13 so only half a month.

Gotta say, I'm playing the shit out of the thing. Way more than my old 3DS, but not more than the other consoles, of course.

I'm still playing a lot of Monster Hunter 4U.  I never could get into any of the previous versions, but this one is really good.

I'll second how well the stable 3d works on the new 3ds xl.  I couldn't use it on my old 3ds xl because it was too hard to stay in the sweet spot to keep the 3d effect.  I always played with it off.  Being able to go back to old games like Occarina of Time with 3d turned on has been like playing a new game.

So due to you all I gave in and got a "new". I did wireless transfer and now want to resell the old 3ds xl. Question... it was the new super Mario bros version - does that mean super Mario is no longer on the old device? Want to make sure I market accurately for selling and don't want to go in and make a profile and all in it.

I did a system transfer from my Mario & Luigi limited edition (with Mario & Luigi Dream Team pre-loaded) to a new 3ds XL.  After the system transfer completed, and I put in the micro SD card I had ready with all of my data, Mario and Luigi Dream Team was on my new 3ds XL.  All of my digital games from my old 3ds XL were now on my new.  The system transfer process completely wiped my old 3ds XL to the factory default, including removing pre-loaded games.

When I setup my son on my old 3ds XL after the system transfer, it was like starting with a brand new 3ds XL.  Hopefully that helps.

OK, that's what I thought. So I'll sell noting that it no longer includes the new super Mario bros.

Thanks.

Digital version of Xenoblade Chronicles 3D doesn't fit on the New 3DS's standard SD card

Quote
Nintendo has revealed that the digital version of Xenoblade Chronicles 3D will not fit on the standard microSD card that comes with the New Nintendo 3DS and New 3DS XL.

This information is noted at the bottom of the game's listing on the Nintendo.co.uk website. It reads:

"The download version of Xenoblade Chronicles 3D does not fit on the microSD card included with New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL systems: an 8GB or larger microSD card is required to download this game from Nintendo eShop."

So, yes, if you plan on purchasing Xenoblade Chronicles 3D through the 3DS eShop for your New Nintendo 3DS, you'll also need to buy an 8GB microSD, or higher.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3D is also the only game that requires a New 3DS or New 3DS XL to play. So it's turning out to be quite an expensive game to play.

It'll be out on April 2nd in Europe and Japan. The US gets it on April 10th.
