I can't stand the fact that the control axes are oriented 45 degrees off from the dungeons, so it is impossible to shoot or move the direction you want to go.

The weird thing is that the mobs frequently line up in that direction. I love to spam them with a crazy spell or two.

Aurum Blade - another KRPG but even more Diablo-clone-like than others I've tried, which is good as it makes it easier to just jump in every now and then to play a few minutes.  Completely free to play it seems, with in app purchases for enhancements like unlimited stash, random item, etc.   Seems like it's getting a good response from the Toucharcade folks.

http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=105738

This game is ridiculously addictive. I'm not a big KRPG fan but I can't stop playing this. Stupid power dungeons are kicking my ass.

It is pretty fun, provided you can get past the Engrish (possibly the worst I've ever seen in a game).

Grabbed Sally's Salon, Samurai Bloodshow, and Jetpack Joyride this morning.  Having spent about an hour with each, I'd highly recommend all three.

samurai bloodshow is now my drug of choice on the ipad.   The Weghted Companion Cube will never threaten to stab you.

I've thought about picking it up. It looks cool, but I probably wouldn't end up playing it much, just like PvZ.

King of Dragon Pass hits tonight for iPhone. Also looking forward to Machinarium tonight, but it is ipad2 only.

I'm kind of stunned at the $10 asking price for King of Dragon Pass, considering it's such an oddball niche game, and an old one at that.

I will get SB on a price drop, though I'm a little irritated that it's as costly as it is and has in-app purchases.

From what I played, it's not too cutthroat of them.  You don't NEED to purchase anything, but you can hasten your advancement in the game by doing so (buying packs of cards that you would get over time if you put in the hours).  Since I'm all about the sense of accomplishment in this type of game, I'm content with playing what they dole out over time.

Yeah, I think it is steep by app store standards, especially since it is iPhone only. I've bought hundreds of games, but don't think I've spent more than 6.99 before. Still, I've wanted to play it for over a decade. My only real gripe is that for the price, I would have liked an iPad specific UI. A couple of people in beta have said it looks good at 2x though.

Well, that's good to know.  I'll still wait for the price drop, since I can't believe I missed the $1.99 price window.

I didn't realize the 1.99 i paid was a sale price.  yeah, i'm with you then.  that's my threshold.  unless it's a port of a board game i like, i won't go much higher.

I took the plunge and bought the King of Dragon Pass for 9.99 pretty steep for an Iphone game but really it's not that expensive.  The game is complex and requires that you read the manual if you are new to the game.  The tutorial has some basic info but there is a lot of depth here.

I'm playing on an Ipad and it doesn't look that bad stretched so that's good.

I'm also KoDP playing on the ipad and it looks great. I am using Retinapad so that helps a bit. The game is incredibly deep. I stayed up pretty late last night trying to get a handle on the beast (thatswhatshesaid) and feel like I have barely scratched the surface.

Holy crap!  I hadn't heard of RetinaPad.  Why is this thing not a default application?!

I just figured out that it's jailbreak only.  They'd better have this in iOS 5.

Some games look a lot better and some - not so much. This utility is the only reason I jailbroke my iPad 2. I'll see if I can figure out how I will load it with retina pad, then without, and post screenies if anyone wants to see a comparison.

Is there no way to do this kind of app without jailbreaking?

Grabbed this yesterday and got through the tutorial last night.  Don't have the first clue what the hell I'm doing, so I might go back and :gasp: actually read the manual.  Looks like it could be very interesting though.

New-ish TD game very reminiscent of Plants v Zombies with a Dungeons-type theme and a few different elements:

If you want your Jetpack coin collecting experience to be a bit easier, one of the real money in-app purchases is an item that doubles all the coins you grab in the game.  Normally I hate these kinds of in-app cash grab schemes, but for a buck this one didn't seem too hard to swallow, and I'm glad I grabbed it early on.

I agree - the One More Turn factor kept me up waayyyy too late last night. It's very immersive - I lost my best Combat advisor in a stupid raid and my Leader to old age - that sucked. I did put a 17 year old girl who has Excellent leadership qualities in my ring, so we'll see how that goes.

Great game.

NOVA 2 HD and Dungeon Hunter 2 HD have both dropped to a buck.  Backstab, Silent Ops, Fast Five, NFL 2011 and Splinter Cell Conviction also dropped to $.99.

EDIT:  DH2 has been "updating" for the last two hours, but others are downloading fine.

Thanks for the heads up, I had eyed that one before. Another I found yesterday is quell which is free to celebrate a sequel. Very nicely done puzzle game of the logic variety where you must figure out how to grab all the shinies in the fewest moves.

Btw, for iPad owners the HD version of Amazing Breaker is out and makes an already great game significantly better.
