Plus, it sounds like another way to gouge the devs/publishers by charging them for the privilege of using this system, and thus the games get more expensive.
Developers have to pay extra for it? I thought it was just part of the developer tools they get for signing up (paying) to be an Apple developer? Which is something like $100, I believe.
To be cynical (would anyone expect less from me?), the trend is to release time wasters and retro games now, not well polished games. The App Store is more about making a quick buck than well polished games. Not to say there aren't still great, well done games, just that it seems like the majority of developers won't care.
For example, TA is running a news story for a minimal graphic time water from a designer who published one mediocre game. That's noteworthy? Apparently it is. That sums the state of iOS gaming to me.
