With my new job which will have me doing quite a bit of travelling, I have decided to buy a portable gaming system. unfortunately, i have now missed the black friday deals. Is it normal to at least have a couple sales on hardware like this before Christmas? I would hate to buy one now and then see some awesome deal a week later. Right now I see the $199 3DS XL bundle with Mario Kart 7, amd some $249 game tie in bundles for the Vita. I'm mostly an RPG and strategy player so none of these games is a big seller for me.
Does anyone expect another great deal before the holiday is over?

Regular 3DS is $129 at Target, which is pretty stellar IMO. I think that Mario deal with the XL is about as good as its going to get, although I thought KMart or somebody was throwing in a gift card with that? Maybe not.

Looking back, I am so upset I missed the PS Vita deal on Amazon. I still don't truly know which system I want to buy yet. Both have certain games coming out that i would love to have on a portable system. Final fantasy X HD on Vita and two Monster Hunter games on 3DS along with Dragon Quest VII.

I can't see the 3D effect on the 3DS but I love the XL size. I wouldn't trade it for a regular or a Vita.

Just saw that pricing on the 3DS XL. May have to jump though I was starting to lean toward the Vita, since I know I will be getting a WiiU at some point and I can get my Zelda/Monster Hunter fix that way.

I love my Vita but unless you're a huge fan of certain titles (like Persona) you're probably better off with the 3DS. The only thing that might change that would be if you're a PS+ member and you get the free Vita games with it (currently Uncharted, Wipeout and the older PSP version Final Fantasy Tactics). Of course you'll need a bigger memory card for those so again that's another $50 right there.

Just nabbed the 3DS XL with Mario Kart for $159 at BestBuy.com. I had to select in-store pickup. To me, this is a ridiculously good deal. It was a good deal for $159 but to get a free game, even if it is preinstalled, is pretty nice. Problem is, I have to sit on it until after Christmas on the slim chance my wife bought me one for Christmas.
