You’ll Be Able To Play Baldur’s Gate On Your iPad This Summer

Quote
PC role-playing game Baldur's Gate will soon be living in a post-PC world. The beloved classic will be out for iPad this summer, developer Overhaul Games said today.

It will also feature new content (!) and a new party member (!!!).

Overhaul writes in a press release:

Running on an upgraded and improved version of the Infinity Engine, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition™ will include the entire Baldur's Gate adventure, the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion pack, and never before seen content including a new adventure and new party member.

Miniature giant space tablets!

This can't happen soon enough!  Hopefully this means Planescape, Icewind Dale, BG II, etc. follow soon after!

damn, this makes me really want an iPad.  I know the PC version is coming too, but the whole touch interface could really rock with this one.

Yeah, I am going to be getting the iPad version instead of the PC version. This is the type of game that screams for the touch interface of the iPad and should be awesome.

I really hope they bring the rest of these D&D games to the iPad in the future.

Guys, I posted this before, but you can play all the infinity engine games on Ipad and android already.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.sourceforge.gemrb

http://www.gemrb.org/wiki/doku.php?id=start

Quote
Runs the Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and Planescape: Torment games
Cross-platform: runs on Windows, OS X, Linux, *BSD, Android, iOS and more
Open source under the GPL (git repository)
    Nearly feature-complete (todo)
Usability innovations, including touch based input
Extensible plugin-based design that removes many limitations of the Infinity Engine

You need a Jailbroken iPad though to play them.

Yup. It's done Apple's way (though their store and in their walled garden) or no way at all.

In my typical fashion, I'll get very excited for this, buy it, and then never play it.

Didn't the original fit on 7 CD-ROMs?  So figure ~600MB x 7 CD-ROMs = ~4 GigaBytes or about the same as one 2-hour HD movie.
