EA and Mythic Rebooting Dungeon Keeper for Mobile Devices

Quote
EA and Mythic have announced that they're unleashing a mobile reboot of the cult-classic '90s strategy title Dungeon Keeper for iOS and Android devices this winter. As was the case with the original Dungeon Keeper, you'll be tasked with creating an underground dungeon lair outfitted with all manner of traps and monsters which you'll use to keep out pesky hero types. The mobile iteration will include the ability to infiltrate your friends' dungeons and test how durable their own defenses are.

No further details have been released for Dungeon Keeper on mobile, but based on the screens I'm definitely liking the visual style and humor on display. The thought of busting up a buddy's dungeon also sounds very cool. Being EA though, there's a high chance this will be free-to-play, and we'll have to wait and see just how that may or may not affect the experience. I'm looking forward to it at any rate, so join in on the discussion in our forums and we'll keep you in the loop when more details on Dungeon Keeper for iOS and Android surface.

Other shots are in the article.

WOOT!!

I really hope they don't f- this one up.  This could be a really good fit for a touchscreen interface.

Precisely. I'd much rather play this on the PC than on my iPad.

Out now on the Google Play store.

Not sure my ancient Xperia Play is going to be able to handle it though.

Be warned, impressions I've seen of this make it out to be the worst kind of free-to-play scheme.

I played less than an hour before uninstalling. The pay aspect of it is utterly horrible, and it is obvious you will need to use money to actually play this game more than once in a while.

The game itself looks and plays great. I just wish I could pay once to unlock the full aspects of it rather than the ludicrous timers they built in. 4 days to chip away at hard rock (or spend gems to get it done instantly!). No thanks.

Strange. I'm seeing a few reviews for this, but it does not seem to be available in the USA for iOS. But apparently the Canadians have had the game for the last 30 days.  mad

A fair amount  of games will get a "soft launch" in Canada to work out the kinks before a wide release.

This is pretty consistent with what I've heard.  Sounds like they built a great version of the game, then completely ruined it with timers and IAP.  frown
