a new episodic RPG published by Square Enix:

The stage of DRAKERIDER is set in Igraine, a world on the brink of destruction due to the repeated attacks of the Dread. Aran Lawson, once an ordinary tracker, now finds himself as a dragalier—and mankind's final hope. This is the story of our hero and his dragon companion, Eckhardt.

The game lets you take the reins with a battle system like no other. Instead of entering commands, control the chains to execute your strategy. Easing off the reins will allow Eckhardt the freedom to unleash powerful attacks. Too much leeway, however, will trigger his primal instincts, endangering Aran.
Led by Akifumi Kaneko, the game is developed by WITCHCRAFT Inc., famous for their work on various anime and other RPGs. This title maintains the high quality and integrity for which they are known.

there are separate versions, but it looks like pricing is the same for either one:

Introductory Chapter: Free
Chapters Two–Five: $6.99 each
All Five Chapters: $20.99

I tried the intro chapter and was surprised to find it was quite fun.  The combat system is very unique.  Instead of selecting actions from menus, you actually slide your dragon's chains left or right on the screen using swipe gestures.  Your swipes correlate to a meter which can do different actions (attack, guard, heal, etc.) depending on where the indicator is.  There's a FFX-style ability grid which allows you to learn different abilities and incorporate them into your meter for different situations.  You can also equip different weapons and armor that change your meter as well.  It's a cool concept that would likely only work on iOS.  Looks a lot like Chaos Rings, but the artwork isn't quite as beautiful.

All that said, it's not something I'm likely to drop $21 on right now.  It'll be one that I will take a look at during a slow period, but I'm far to deep into Guild Wars 2 to be starting something else.  smile
