Well, this certainly came out of nowhere.

Apparently Spectral Souls, a SRPG that was originally on PSP in 2006, got stealth released for iOS today.  I heard some good things about the combat system and storyline, but the PSP version was apparently hampered by ridiculous load times.  It's free to DL and you can play the first 3 battles as a demo before paying to unlock ($11).  Grabbing it now...will report back later.

That trailer sucked.  Over half the time was spent spinning text on to a boring gray background, and it showed crap for gameplay.

Anyway I will try it out of course but it didn't make the game seem appealing.

Since it was free I downloaded it and tried to play it. Now, if I had more time and patience I might be able to have put up with what seemed like a gawd awful interface, but I didn't and promptly deleted it. disgust

May try again in the future...

This got a very good review from Touch Arcade today, which surprised me.  I've played through the free portion (first 3 battles), but am not sure if I like it enough to drop $15.  Might though, as I'm itching for a new SRPG...Gungnir didn't really click with me and Rainbow Moon has become rather tedious.
