It's very similar to the Marvel Puzzle Quest game, but I think i prefer the single match rather than the Puzzles and Dragons 'drag all over the place' mechanic.

I haven't used the drag all over the place mechanic before, so it's a 'new' development for me.  As is the 'team' where I get more/less/no benefit for particular colors based on what matches I make.

I've played with it several times.  Your color matching corresponds to one or more characters.  It's possible to obtain more characters through level drops or purchasing a random through accrued time crystals that dro pin levels.

A level is won by doing enough damage to the enemies on-screen with your team.  If you've got a balanced team, all the moves will do something.  however, you can tweak your team to overload on one particular color, increasing that damage level, but at the cost of having certain colors not do anything, as there are no members with that color as their active.  Having three yellow team members means little when there's only two gems on the board, and you didn't bring Rory and the board is loaded with green.

It's neat, doesn't have an energy mechanic to prevent you from playing, and has a character levelling mechanic that will benefir from replays of existing levels to see if you can get those drops and additional leveling from the character that you take with you.

You start with Matt Smith and Madam Vastra.  I've already got Jenny Flint, Amy, Rory, and Clara, as well as the 10th Doctor unlocked.

I think so.  I don't know that it'll hold a long term interest, but it's a fun diversion.
