Do you even realize the time factor involved in trying to debate all of you by myself? You probably couldn't do it, dude.

I imagine it would be time consuming if you were actually debating.

Ale

I wish that at some point people would be able to understand that a person disagreeing with you is NOT the same thing as them not debating you or discussing an issue in good faith.

Thanks, but him and his kind here have an agenda. why else would they waste their time again and again posting just digs in every one of my threads? Unless that it's the only way they feel better about their own pathetic lives daily.

Zeke things like this and telling someone to go f themselves does nothing to help your cause here, whatever that cause may be.

This particular "person" has been hanging around here for days just waiting. I've seen him in this forum lurking.

And just when things calmed down a bit here today, he chimes in with something to try and set me off again.

I'll trade my unemployment, which I pay into (along with Medicare, that serves me no purpose) to have medical benefits and some sort of retirement.

So, you want to get rid of your welfare for benefits only your union can get you? Or you would trade your welfare for a government job? I don't understand your point.

Not laugh-worthy, considering that I have already stated that I paid into more than I have received. Along with MediCare (useless to me) and Social Security.....which i'm sure someone right now is enjoying a filet mignon on my dime that was supposed to go to helping my retirement, and will be, that most agree on, quite evaporated by the time I get to recover my investment.

Could it be said then, that if the Union that was voted in got you a 5% yearly raise or something like that. That you wouldn't be all anti-union? And that at the end of the day this all comes down to the "fuck you, got mine" mentality. The union didn't get you enough so fuck all unions?

If I couldn't back it up then maybe so.  But beyond the "short bus" dig (and he does drive a bus!), there's nothing in there that can't be factually substantiated from his posts the last couple of weeks.  That's the point.

Hell, if you thought that was harsh, you should have seen my training instructors before Desert Storm.  They'd make people  crybaby

I'm still waiting to hear an even slightly plausible explanation for how Libertarians and Tea Partiers, who constantly espouse their belief in personal liberty over alleged government tyranny, have somehow sided with Governor Walker's quest to eliminate workers' rights to negotiate with the government.

-Autistic Angel

Because they feel that not all unions are voluntary.  It's a big reason why they're against the Employee Free Choice Act.

Wasn't that last week?  I saw the rollout of that particular canard: Ed Gillespie tried it out on Meet the Press and conservative talk radio made a go of it for a day or two, but I thought they'd given it up.  I mean, its easy to believe that Tea Partiers honestly don't understand what unions are or how they operate, but even they can't delude themselves into believing the tens of thousands of daily protesters in Wisconsin are upset that Governor Walker is trying to *improve* the quality of their union representation.

-Autistic Angel

Last week?  No.  That belief's been held for years.  Since before the Tea Party existed.

Regardless of how long that bit of anti-union propaganda has existed, it seemed to be a late and relatively short-lived excuse for why Governor Walker's emergency "Budget Repair Bill" is an opportune moment to break up the unions.

The current line of defense seems to be that he's just trying to ensure some sort of permanent fiscal stability, despite the fact that there is no demonstrable correlation between union membership and state deficits.

They've also been pushing the myth that public sector workers are living the high life on the backs of tax payers, exercising their collective bargaining power to extort lavish benefit packages subsidized by the general public, and they're *still* repeating the lie that the unions are refusing to meet Walker on any of his demands.  Forbes Magazine's Rick Ungar has tried dispelling that one:

Quote from: Forbes Magazine - Rick Ungar
Quote from: Tax.com - David Kay Johnston
Gov. Scott Walker says he wants state workers covered by collective bargaining agreements to “contribute more” to their pension and health insurance plans. Accepting Gov. Walker’ s assertions as fact, and failing to check, creates the impression that somehow the workers are getting something extra, a gift from taxpayers. They are not. Out of every dollar that funds Wisconsin’ s pension and health insurance plans for state workers, 100 cents comes from the state workers.

Via tax.com

How can this be possible?

Simple. The pension plan is the direct result of deferred compensation- money that employees would have been paid as cash salary but choose, instead, to have placed in the state operated pension fund where the money can be professionally invested (at a lower cost of management) for the future.

Many of us are familiar with the concept of deferred compensation from reading about the latest multi-million dollar deal with some professional athlete. As a means of allowing their ball club to have enough money to operate, lowering their own tax obligations and for other benefits, ball players often defer payment of  money they are to be paid to a later date. In the meantime, that money is invested for the ball player’s benefit and then paid over at the time and in the manner agreed to in the contract between the parties.

So the pro-Walker, anti-union crowd is already arguing that greedy, slovenly union members are swindling benefits packages so generous that they threaten to topple entire state budgets...and they're compounding lies upon lies to make their case.  Now you're asking us to accept that the same crowd is *also* genuinely upset that those same union workers are *forced* to join those unions to their detriment?

It's one bit of pseudo-populist sophistry or the other.  You can't have both.

For someone who posts in this forum as if he's smarter than everyone else, your continued intellectual dishonesty about a lot of things is rather amazing.

There are a lot of people who post on this forum, pr0ner.  I suspect very few of them would agree that cheeba, brettmcd, and Zekester constitute "everyone."

And once again is it any wonder why conservatives dont want to participate here much?   People like AA make it pretty pointless when its nothing but insults to anyone who dares to be conservative.

To be fair, I think Zeke's a special case.  While I'll be the first to admit that dem libs seem to outnumber neocons and other right wing groups by a large margin, i honestly think zeke gets the same kind of response in ANY thread in which folks don't agree with him.

Also, constantly dropping into threads to remind people that you feel the way you do and to scream everyone's unfair and mean doesn't help...

But I found out that working with kids, not having a boss over your shoulder, more free time, and enough money to get by on, and not having to meet a quota every month was a hard combination to beat.

I left a couple times to try other things.....FeDex being one.....but still returned to the bus driving.

I'm not defending his attitude or position, but that was just a cheap shot, regardless at whom it was directed.

Well, guess I'll try to keep things current and up to date. Recalls have started, gunning for the Republicans that are up for recall.

https://wisdems.zissousecure.com/contribute/SplashRecallRepublican8

Contribute there if you so desire from other places there has been a huge amount in donations to recalling the Republican senators. The Wisconsin senate has also jammed through several bills trying to force the Democrats back, basically they are threatening layoffs, taking over the staffers for the senators and are now fining the Deomcrats 100 dollars a day. I've seen no intention of the Democrats coming back.

In the other spectrum Ohio ramming through there horrible budget bill, which cut collective bargaining rights, made it illegal to strike, and kneecapped Education in general. If what I am reading is correct to become a teacher in Ohio you have to have a masters degree, but this new budget now caps your salary at 30,000.

http://www.cincinnatibeacon.com/index.php?/contents/comments/insane_salary_caps_in_sb_5/

That's what I have at the moment, continue on.

I think it's a pretty good song.

Nothing like gutting your public education system by effectively making teaching a last resort job choice.  Eventually, failure won't be an option in Ohio...because no one will know how to spell it.

From that second link:

Just imagine a family of three—one parent and two children.  If the parent in such a household were the highest possible wage-earner according to this scale, he or she would earn $32,460.  Such a person would be eligible for WIC.

And those yelling about the Democrats using taxpayer money to live in Illinois, apparently Walker fucked up that part also:

http://washingtonexaminer.com/blogs/beltway-confidential/2011/03/wisconsin-ethics-board-dems-can-use-campaign-funds-pay-life-lam

Basically since Walker said that the dems were using it as a campaign that the Board decided they could use campaign funds to pay for it.

And apparently they have raised over 300k that can now be used to live in exile. Good show Walker.

From Rush Limbaugh's website:

Quote from: The Rush Limbaugh Show

RUSH: Now, this guy [Republican State Senator Glenn] Grothman, this guy is great.  Last night on PMSNBC's The Last Word during a discussion of why Scott Walker wants to close the capitol, this is what Grothman said.

GROTHMAN: We're trying to keep some people out of the building because right now the building is becoming a pigsty. The building smells.  We used to have nice little groups of fourth grade children walking through the building. There was something called the Senate Scholarship Program in which high school kids could track us around.  All that's being shut down by a bunch of slobs taking up the building!  We can no longer continue to have all these slobs in the building.  College students who are having a fun party, that's largely who's in the building overnight -- and if you get up early and talk to who's in the building at seven a.m., you will find it is largely college students and hangers-on having a party in the state capitol.

RUSH:  Why not?  Nobody's teaching anybody anything.  It's just a bunch of rabble-rousers and so forth, plus union thugs join together in creating a pigsty -- and we know that they create pigsties, especially compared to Tea Party rallies. You look at any public grounds where these people have been: The trash is littered everywhere, trash cans are overturned, beer cans, bong pipes. Hell, it's all over there.  The Tea Party people, you don't find anything.  Not even a discarded tissue.  Hell, these leftist protesters, leave Kotex! Used Kotex, everything is littering the sidewalks and the streets. It doesn't matter.  It's the height of pigsty-ism.  They're just all over the place out there.  Here's Grothman again.  He was asked, "Senator, before we go, I want to get one clarification from you about the crowds.  Are you saying that all these protesters here are slobs?"

GROTHMAN:  No, of course not.  But the people who are staying overnight are largely making a mess of our capitol.  That's what you're addressing. Why are we keeping people out of the building?  Because we do not want to have so many people there overnight defacing our beautiful capitol.  If you would interview all the people who are creating a ruckus, the vast majority who are here today are not police officers or nurses.  They're either college students or hangers on -- or unemployed people just looking for somewhere to hang on.

My local Conservative talk show host picked this angle up this morning, first hypothesizing, then assuming, and finally asserting that the protesters were generating piles of biohazardous waste.  Used syringes, condoms, animal and human feces...near the end, one caller -- armed with nothing but the previous two hours of supposition -- compared the Wisconsin state capitol to "what those people did to the Superdome after Hurricane Katrina."

In other words, they've actually sunk to delegitimizing the pro-union protesters by playing the "Great Unwashed Masses" card. icon_razz
