Edit 2: Now quick! Google the place that has the article and discredit it
why? Because that's what you guys do. Should we just follow your example and continually yell out "we're screwed" without attempting to add anything helpful about how that state of screwedness could be avoided? Attacking Eco and the sites he sources accomplishes this? And how can that state of screwedness be avoided given the two people who are on the ticket? Do you think you are helping?

Well, this is a forum after all, where people come to debate various issues.
If I read you correctly you think that particular discussion should close down, because of your beliefs (Or the articles belief) that both candidates are equally bad?
That's a third argument and of course people should debate and talk about it here. That is after all what these particular forums are for.
As for the specific Eco against the rest, thats probably unavoidable with such a big difference in opinion about something people value so highly so I guess it comes down to whether people think they can discuss it without getting too upset or angry but why should they, when the people you should look up to (Politicians) so often cannot themselves?
So, what I am saying is this - There is no reason to shut down the argument or the thread, unless you want to shut down this part of the forum entirely, because its the nature of the game here.
EDIT: This was in response to ATB

While I do tend to take a more lighthearted approach to political and religious discussions due to the inherently volatile nature of these subjects, I do have to admit to getting annoyed by Eco's sweeping insults directed at anyone who doesn't subscribe to his beliefs, as well as ATB's repetitive claims that because we have no perfect choice we must therefore stop discussing the matter and give up entirely on this election process...even when we feel that some harm is still left to made by the candidate we oppose.
That being said, I also have to agree with Eel Snave when it comes to pretty girls. I agree that I am the prettiest, of course. But I've always believed Scraper's avatar is intended to throw people off and that he's almost as pretty as I am. I'm also convinced that Purge and Ceekay are acid burn victims, that Razgon actually lives in Peoria and NOT Denmark, and that Issie is hiding in the crawlspace of my apartment most of the time.

I wouldn't say they are identically awful. They are mostly different kinds of awful, but they sum to a nearly equal level of awful. And at the end of the day, neither of one of them matters in the least to me.

ATB's repetitive claims that because we have no perfect choice we must therefore stop discussing the matter and give up entirely on this election process.
Not my claim at all. My claim is that obama supporters look like fools for denouncing a guy who supports a different candidate than you when they are almost entirely the same candidate and neither of them is good for this country. And that you guys are indicting eco for doing the same things that many of you did when bush was in the white house.

Please, you're not some beacon shining the light of truth on the matter. If anything, you're much more naive than anyone arguing for or against a candidate in this election. I would love to have a presidential race in which I agree with everything that one candidate says and does. Since I don't believe this has ever happened in the history of the entire world for any nation, I also understand that mitigating damage is an integral part of the selection process as well. You claim it's ludicrous to argue for a candidate in this election? Fine. I claim that decrying everyone else for trying to get involved is equally ludicrous.

This. Sometime, the language we choose may not convey what we mean and stokes the flames of a flamewar. Granted, this has been silly on both sides, so Comedy Gold approved. Actually on topic-ish... Today's 538 post talks about the lack of Romney momentum, arguing that it's actually building toward Obama. My favorite quote: To argue that Mr. Romney is ahead, or that the election is a “tossup,” requires that you disbelieve the polls, or that you engage in some complicated interpretation of them.
This is actually similar in vein to a PEC article posted yesterday here in which he says Today, the Washington Post's Chris Cillizza has moved Ohio from "lean Obama" to "tossup." Yet the current margin in Ohio is Obama +3.0+/-0.5% (n=14 polls, Oct. 13-Nov. 1) and probably insuperable. What could be Cillizza's reason?
He writes: "...the absolute necessity for Romney to win the state if he wants to be president - leads us to move it back to the 'tossup' category." Now here is some problematic reasoning. Romney needs Ohio, so therefore it's a toss-up. Ah yes, the "let's not bicker about who killed who" argument.
Any thoughts? Or should I start a different thread on this one...

I'm thankful for Gaming Trend and enjoy participating in discussions here. Despite everything that has gone on here, I don't think any of you are ignorant or any of that. I know Hepcat was joking a lot of the time and I'd happily play him in whatever game we are playing nowadays ( I really only play FIFA now though).
I am, however, extremely concerned about the direction this country is going and Obama has compounded this worry exponentially. I've never been a Romney fanboy, or anything like one, and prior to August supported him with the idea "lesser of too evils". Now, however I feel he is 100% more qualified and ready to lead this country out of the mess we are in (caused by republican and democrat alike, they're all incompetent, 3 day workweek fools), than this inept, clueless, verging very closely on socialist idiot we have in office now.
I've had fun, and been annoyed both the past however long we've discussed this.
I realize my tone may have changed midway through the "discussion" and i typically refrain from even getting into these types of discussions online because they're pretty pointless, as ATB said.

However I've never been more concerned about our country than I am now and believe with all my heart if you can't cut through all the crap and realize how much of a failure this community organizer, unqualified shill, we as a country voted into office has been than you really need to step back and reexamine things. I completely get the social issue disagreements and understand how someone could be pro-choice et al, but this election is so much bigger than those issues. I have nothing but love for you - Tu PAC Go vote Tuesday even if you have to ride the short bus to get there 😉

I'd ask for examples of each: 1) Romney winning your vote... genuinely curious here and 2) Obama being socialist, unqualified, inept, and clueless but I don't think I'd really get either.

We have two bad choices. Arguing passionately about one being better than the other is pointless when they're identically awful.
The ballot in my state has five choices. Since I'm fortunate enough to live in a state whose outcome is a foregone conclusion, I can vote for the candidate that I actually like.

Romney gets my vote because:
I'm starting with social issues, which obviously are the most controversial, and believe it or not I'm the most understanding of the opposing view point.
He is pro-life He is against gay marriage; please note, I do not believe gay partners should be prohibited from receiving the same benefits married couples receive in regard to taxes, insurance etc. From a purely religious stand point however, I believe "marriage" is between a man and a woman and I ask you to please let this go, as it is not worth discussing further than this.
In addition, Obama has illustrated through the past 4 years that he is a huge proponent of big, enormous government.
He also buys into the bullshit of the top 1%, which is just that, bullshit. If you would like further clarification on this issue, I'm certain a local community college in your area offers remedial math at a pretty decent cost.
His mentors are definitive socialists, and some are straight up racist in addition to being socialists. This is factual, and while I'm sure you're going to yell for links, I urge you to do your on research because if you're questioning this you obviously have not done so.
He has increased the debt over $5 trillion in 4 years. Honestly, I could have just said that and stopped and it would have been more than sufficient evidence to get this fool out of office.
He has attempted to institute the most costly healthcare program in our history, without congressional consent. This country cannot come close to affording this asinine plan. He lied about the taxes related to obamacare and he pushed it through congress without a vote. He hasn't passed a freaking budget...
I could literally go on all night, but I'm waiting on takeout at PF Changs and it looks like they're coming.
Worst, most unqualified president in my 31 years on this earth and I will never comprehend how a reasonable person regardless of their political affiliation cannot see this.
Hopefully, going forward, our candidates, regardless of party affiliation, will be fully vetted, because it is BLATANTLY obvious that the media vetting process of this loon was not completed, maybe due to his race or his command of the podium (when a TelePrompter is present of course), whatever the reason, he was not properly vetted and I'm hopeful America will consider it "lesson learned."
That is all, time to eat.

I support gay marriage. I support pro-choice. I support a reformed health care system. The Republican administration before Obama grew the government at a far larger pace. Eco's grasp of economics is laughably bad (He really should attend one of those remedial courses at a community college of some repute, at the very least. Or perhaps a beginner course.). That eco brings race into it (not once, but twice) as a tool to cast doubt on Obama's presidency...well...i leave the implications up to others. I would respect Eco if he actually argued policies. Used something beyond impassioned insults thrown at Obama and anyone who supports him. insults that he can't back up with facts. But he doesn't do that. He prefers to keep screaming "he's an idiot!" (and worse) over and over again.

I do think Obama is worse than Bush, absolutely, and I don't even think Bush was a very good president either.
Hep, keeping to the play book I see.
For one, you wouldn't even be allowed in the same room with me when discussing your delusional ass"knowledge" of economics. LOL, I almost spilled my drink when I read that, pussy cat.
Race was brought up twice in my post. Let me help you with the reasoning behind it.
1) Obama's mentors have been quoted multiple times talking about white people. As recently as this week the pastor that gave the benediction at his inauguration said whites are going to hell. I won't bother bringing "Reverend" Wright up...
2). I don't have a racist bone in my body.
I have spoken with multiple African Americans that cannot give me any other reason for voting for him other than his race. If you don't think that is widespread, your more delusional than I thought.
I don't even know wtf else you said and you deserve no further response, insinuating that I'm racist now? Picture Perfect Democrat Playbook.

Let's see. Bush takes over a country at peace with a budget surplus and leaves two wars, a trillion-dollar deficit, and an economy in freefall.
Obama winds up his first term with a slowly growing economy, ends one war, and puts an expiration date on the other.
Not seeing how #2 is worse than #1.

Ah Eccy. That you're trying to make everyone believe you went around town interviewing african american citizens about Obama almost made me spill MY drink while laughing. "Say, you're black. You don't support Obama now, do you?" Obama has disavowed Rev. Wright's outbursts numerous times. But hey, let's just keep using that tired old tool to strike fear into the hearts of all white voters, shall we? Nothing racist there. Obama's black, so even if he loudly and frequently disagrees with Rev. Wright, he must secretly agree with him because they're both of the same color, right? I still maintain you have zero knowledge of economics (and you've done nothing to change that), by the way. How many Americans have died already because of wars a republican administration took us into? But you keep spouting easily discredited lies all you want. It just makes me feel more secure in my belief that anyone who buys into the crap you do won't be able to find a voting booth come election time. You'll probably stand in a photo booth at Walmart for 20 minutes shouting out to the puzzled clerk asking how to select Romney.

Romney gets my vote because:
He is against gay marriage; please note, I do not believe gay partners should be prohibited from receiving the same benefits married couples receive in regard to taxes, insurance etc. From a purely religious stand point however, I believe "marriage" is between a man and a woman and I ask you to please let this go, as it is not worth discussing further than this.
Jesus saved a whore, touched lepers and cured them and used non-Jews in parables. I have no doubt that if Jesus were to come back today He would say "WTF, why don't we have gay marriage across the nation yet?" Jesus was the defender and savior of the unloved, the unclean, and the un-desirables. To say that one is against gay marriage because of Jesus-based religious beliefs ignores what He was all about.

A Pew Research Center poll found nearly half of Americans hold the false belief that TARP was passed under President Obama, while only 34 percent know it originated under Bush. "Oh yeah?" Bush replied. "50% of the people were wrong."

Sickening that you left out the fact that we were attacked on our soil...
you're right. Bush let us be attacked on our own soil, and I ask you to please let this go, as it is not worth discussing further than this.

Christianity doesn't own the word or even the concept of marriage, the thought that it does is ludicrous. Marriage as a concept predates Christianity and exists in just about every culture around the world. The semantic game being played is horseshit of the highest degree. If a pair of atheists can get married, so should a same sex couple.

Ceekay's poking fun at a defense Eco used earlier when he couldn't (or wouldn't) back up one of his more outrageous claims.
