An Oregon high school teacher was escorted by police from his classroom and placed on paid administrative leave because of his pro-life beliefs.

Bill Diss, an 11-year veteran math and computer science teacher at Benson High School near Portland, was suspended Tuesday after trying to stop Planned Parenthood from starting an outreach program in the school, according to the Christian News Network.

Because of his pro-life stance, Diss strongly opposes Planned Parenthood and has been trying to limit its activities in the local community since 2007.

“I certainly fight Planned Parenthood, which I certainly have a right to do,” he told reporters last week, according to Christian News Network. “And that was all on the outside, until [last] year when they brought Planned Parenthood [into the school].”

I agree with you here actually, both should absolutely be kept out of the classroom.

This, my friends and foes, is why my two children will never take part in public education.

I'm torn on this one.  I'm certainly not against making some sort of sex education and/or protection available for students who need it, but PP comes with it's own set of baggage (real or perceived, depending on where you stand).

I'm also curious as to the actual behavior that lead to the police escort.   Somehow I doubt he was escorted out because he was asking them politely to leave.  I find the "placed on administrative leave because of his pro-life beliefs" line endlessly amusing.

People tend to be disciplined for their actions, not their thoughts.  It's when and how they voice their thoughts that get them in trouble.

Too easy.  I'll avoid this one.
