Yeah, and Dewey defeated Truman.  icon_twisted

It would help my cynicism if they let CA, OR, and WA get to say, 10% precincts reporting before they automatically said, "he won this state".  Not that I could imagine any other outcome for CA, Or, or WA.

I believe some of them were yelling 'Kill them both', which, IMO, is a bit over the line even for sour grapes.  I also think that's a felony....

I did not hear that, and I sincerely hope you misheard it. If true, it scares me, as we would be reaching new lows as a nation where something like that would take place at a presidential concession speech.

Here's the fun part - if he proves to be a genuine screwup, I'm not listening to a single one of you say "well we didn't know! What the hell?" We survived Carter. We'll survive Carter II. Come on 2012!

Would'nt surprise me if he is shot. But his vp is even worse. Kinda sad that this will likely be McCain's last run at it. Dont want anyone killed but you know he has got to think about that.

If that was to happen I don't think America\Americans will ever be respected in the the world as The Great Nation deserving of respect that is already being drawn away form us. It will be our lowest point ever\Nail in our coffin... Lets not discuss this again...

I ditto Razgons congrats to all US GT'ers here. You'd probably be surprised how many people here in Canada were watching tonight's election and how much it emotionally effected people.
I just hope the Democrats can also get their magic 60 in the Senate.

BooYEAH!

Suck it, Repubs!  smile

Just as good, Robin Hayes and Elizabeth Dole were bounced out on their asses.  After their campaigns, they should never go near politics again.  Dole's "Godless" ads were as tasteless as I've ever seen any political ad and Hayes "Liberals hate people who believe in God and work for a living" comment was just plain stupid.

Obama has stated openly that his intention is to tax coal-plants so high that any company that tries to run or build them will go bankrupt.  He has SAID this.  Well, I got news for everyone, my company (the 2nd largest in the nation) cannot afford to build anything but coal plants.  So, the end result, and our CEO has all but said it as well, is that the taxes on coal purification will ruin the coal electric industry.  First thing to go is O&M money, my salary is in that, and thus layoffs will ensue.  Mark my words.  While I am concerned about losing the job I have had for 25 years, I am more concerned about what these taxes will do to the cost of everyone's electric bill.  Because I can guarantee you that the electric company will raise the price per kilowatt in order to try and offset these "clear-air" taxes.  And I gotta believe all the other companies will be feeling the pinch as well.  He wants us to build clean nuke plants.  That is all fine and good but the last two times my company tried to do that the regulations and red tape and cost nixed it both times.  So, where does that leave us?

Clear air.  What an Al Gore nutjob joke. Total propaganda to make M  O   N   E   Y.     End of rant.  Just pissed cuz I know exactly where this is all going.

Yeah right, like you already don't blame the Democrats for every problem in your entire life.  Give me a break man.  As competent as I feel Obama is, I seriously doubt he can clean up the mess you Republicans have left us in one term.

You lost, get over it.  Some of us know exactly how you feel, we've had to live with that disappointment for the last EIGHT YEARS!

Obama has the advantage of taking office near the bottom of the business cycle. It is nearly certain that the economy will be expanding and stocks will be up four years from now, simply because every contraction seeds the next expansion. Government policies can goose that growth by a few tenths of a percent one way or the other, but they'd need to be radical indeed to change the trajectory. Unless he screws up bigtime, most of us will be financially better off four years from now.

As always, there will be individual winners and losers, and government helps pick those. Do you think that Exxon-Mobil's record profits after eight years with an oilman in the White House is just a coincidence?

Sucks to be on the losing end of that stick. I hope your adjustment isn't too wrenching, KD.
