I do feel badly when it inevitably gets out of hand in a zeke infested thread...maybe not in the thick of things, but later when it has died down.  but it's very hard not to when he seemingly takes great pride in having people respond negatively to him.  sadly, in his mind, banning him for a week also validates any and all opinion he's stated here.  when he returns, he will point to the banning and repeatedly tell us that he was suspended for speaking the truth.

Um, I think you need to read up on how the government works, Zeke. He is the president of the United States, but he is not above the law, and no matter how much you believe he can override any state's laws to do his bidding, the truth is that he cannot.

This does bring up a question though (and I'll beg advance forgiveness as I'm probably failing basic civics here).  Let's say Arizona somehow passed that crazy birther bill which stated that before a candidate can get on the presidential ballot, they are required to produce more detailed birth records than another state (such as Hawaii) is legally allowed to provide.  How does that get reconciled?  Does it just get jumped up for the federal courts to decide, or do they just stage a cage match between the state's governors?

Probably Obama -- or someone else -- sues in federal court for declaratory relief and an injunction, seeking a ruling that the bill is unconstitutional, for any one of various reasons that have been discussed.
