I suspect he doesn't release it because it is such a non-issue to him and releasing it would just allow them to latch onto something else that could actually turn into an issue.

The best thing to do with fake conspiracies is to ignore them and allow them to be a distraction for the people who want to believe it, because politically you aren't going to win them over anyway.

I never hated Bush, I just thought he surrounded himself with people who weren't acting in the best interests of the U.S..  I think he honestly felt he was doing the right thing and I can appreciate that.  Unfortunately, we disagree on what the right thing was at that time.  

Folks who believed that Bush was motivated by some grand plan cooked up by U.S. oil companies to conquer all oil producing nations (amongst other conspiracy theories) were simply nut jobs and they did little to draw attention to the policies that were wrong.

He has already requested form the state of Hawai'i, received and posted on the Internet the only document the state will issue to someone requested a copy of their birth certificate. His "original" birth certificate is not his property, he can't just go to the bank and pull it out of a safe deposit box and show it to people -- it belongs to the State of Hawai'i, and he can only get a copy based on their laws and policies, which he has done. What more can reasonably be asked of him in this regard?

There is absolutely no reason for Obama to "end the controversy" by arranging to show his "original" birth certificate.

First, it's ridiculous to assume that any amount of evidence will satisfy his critics.

Second, it's beneficial for Obama to be criticized loudly by unbalanced people.  He hopes, not unreasonably, that folks will focus on the loony-tune criticisms of him rather than the more reasonable criticisms that he's a spendthrift, an oathbreaker, and an unapologetic adopter of policies he once criticized.

Um, I think you need to read up on how the government works, Zeke. He is the president of the United States, but he is not above the law, and no matter how much you believe he can override any state's laws to do his bidding, the truth is that he cannot.
