Guitar Praise trailer

I was watching out of curiosity to see if they'd show any gameplay/music footage, and then I hit 0:54 in the trailer, and just started laughing. Hey, can we get that guitar modeler to stick her chest out a little MORE blatantly? icon_lol

The hypocrisy was delicious, and I just had to share the funny. Not actually bashing Christians as a whole here, just the shenanigans in some of the marketing. icon_wink

More amusing than this trailer, is the need for athiests and non-Christians to belittle and make fun of Christians constantly.

It's like the guy with a small dick having to talk about dick size all the time.

Yeah because Christians never talk shit about other religions. Oh wait, they do it more than anyone else does. Ever mention Mormons around "real" Christians? Or how about mentioning that gay people should have the same rights as straight people? You can get them going pretty easy.

Atheists talking shit may be common on gaming forums where there is more of us around and we can get away with it, but my experiences in everyday life are quite the opposite. I have to be very careful what I say, but Christians can blast anyones beliefs and no one will say anything.

Look at Darkstar One's avatar. If I used an avatar that openly mocked Christians I would be asked to remove it immediately, but for some reason no one cares about his here.

The Christians are persecuted crap we get on gaming forums is always good for a laugh. Get over yourselves.

Any chance we can separate fundamentalist/evangelical/conservative Christians from the rest of us Christians?  I know blanket condemnation is fun and all but there are important differences.

I am not the one who gets upset every time anyone says anything bad about my beliefs. But yes, my reaction was probably overboard, but I find the don't make fun of Christians attitude really annoying.

Everyone I work with is Christian except for 2 Mormons. When religion comes up and those two aren't around they freely dog on their beliefs, fundy/evangelical/conservative all the same. It's also perfectly ok for any of them to make fun of atheists, which I don't mind at all because that allows me to make fun of them back.

There is a subset of [Atheists/Christians] that like to make generalizations about [Atheists/Christians] but bitterly resent generalizations about [Atheists/Christians].

The scientific term for this group is "asshats."

As for the original post, it has it the nail on the head with the generalization that Christians as a group oppose depictions of sexuality.  That's exactly why the Bible is full of parables against open sexuality.  Like the Song of Solomon, for instance.

Dunno if I fall into the "asshat" category, but I look at life this way: if I can't even poke fun at myself, then life's too serious. I don't rip meanspiritedly on anyone (except corporate/government powermongers and genuine terrorists, but they deserve it), but rather just make fun of anyone and anything, especially when hypocrisy and/or irony is involved. slywink

So if my post made anyone take offense, all I can say is "why so serious?" Given the tenor of the trailer and product, the blatant sex-sells shot of the guitar model WAS hypocritical and hilarious! icon_biggrin I would've posted this in the Console Gaming forum but had a feeling that, knowing the internet, the thread was going to degenerate into namecalling at some point. So why post it? To bring a laugh to those who would see the humor.

As for the Internet being anti-Christian, from my experience, it's anti-everything if you read enough of it.

I think the product itself is funny as hell.  Imagine little Tommy's Christmas - he wants Guitar Hero and opens the box from Grandma and gets this crap.  I can read the headline now..."Grandparent beaten to death with plastic guitar".

Hey, maybe they can even trot out Jack Thompson to talk about the dangers of air guitaring!!!

I don't even see what you're talking about, honestly...  should they have gotten a fat person to show off the guitar?  I really don't see anyone sticking out their chest or sexing anything up.  They have a normal looking woman wearing a normal everyday top.  Seems like just another way to bash a game / folks for no reason to me.

It is a knockoff product for sure, and while I'm all for people listening to their own music and I have no problems with the product per se, that commercial segment was blatant, and there wasn't one fat person to be found. I guess God keeps the fat of his sheep. Maybe I should subscribe for the -4 to obesity.

Got to agree with Rowdy here, that was pretty much nothing. She did have a nice chest, and they put her in a tight sweater to show it off, but to say that was using sex is pushing it.

But the game, even if it used real music Tongue, it still looks very lame. It doesn't even look like a good GH knockoff, never mind that I rather kill myself than sit and around praise Jesus with my friends.
