fireball - how much damage do you really think it is doing to Obama with Hillary still in the race and slinging?  I'm thinking that anything Hillary dredges up would get dredged up by the R's in the national campaign anyway, and that it's better to get some of this stuff out of the way now.  The campaign has been a pretty solid one by Obama's team, but there have been some blows struck that he's had trouble with, and he's going to have to deal with them much better in October/November, but still...

I think playing the thing out does little damage if things continue like they did today. Today, before the Edwards announcement, the big political story was Hillary Clinton's new tone, which included defending Obama against a McCain attack and encouraging all her supporters to vote for the eventual Democratic nominee. If she's campaigning with that sort of tone, she can stay in through June 3 without doing any damage.

Would have been nice to hear it a week ago, of course.

She needs to get the memo out to her campaign.  A representative of hers was on PBS McNiel-Leher's News Hour this evening parroting the "Hillary is the strongest candidate that can carry "Swing states" like WVA, PA, OH, and FL in the Fall against McCain" rhetoric still, implying Obama can't do it or win in the Fall.

Not at all  "Get behind whatever Democrat is nominated" .  Not even close.   Her supporters are still wanting the cake while they eat it too.
