Stephen Colbert might have killed off his super PAC, but he’s not done raising money for political purposes.
Colbert will headline a fundraiser for his sister, Elizabeth Colbert Busch, to help her raise money for her special election bid in South Carolina.
Busch is running as a Democrat in the House race to replace former Rep. Tim Scott. Scott was appointed by Gov. Nikki Haley to replace Sen. Jim DeMint in the Senate.
“It is rare for me to take an active role in anyone’s political ambitions other than my own. But this is different –beyond a brother’s love, I truly believe Lulu is the best candidate to represent my beloved Lowcountry in the United States Congress,” Colbert said in the invitation for the fundraiser.
The fundraiser is Feb. 22 in New York. A private reception with photos and book signing will cost donors $2,600; a general reception will cost $1,000 and a private chef’s table dinner with Colbert and Elizabeth Colbert Busch at Boulud Sud will cost $5,200.
