Serious question: do standard hunting rifles have 20+ round magazines?

No.  Most states have laws on the amount of rounds you are allowed to have in the magazine while hunting.  If memory serves, I believe that number is 5.

Ok - that was my understanding of the bigger difference between hunting rifles and assault rifles.

Not a hunting rifle, but the Ruger 10/22 is one of the most popular rifles in existence. It's the rifle they teach kids to shoot in Boy Scouts. They make youth versions. You can easily buy 20+ round magazines for it.

Well, in other states you can; not in our state. It's a lot of fun to shoot with the high capacity mags, though.

I like high capacity mags.  The reason is simple - I'm cheap.   When I go to the range I like to spend my rental time shooting, not loading clips.
