Wow, normally I take the score at RT with a grain of salt, but when nobody gives it a thumbs up...ouch.

It's starring Tim Allen.  The only thing he's done since Home Improvement that was worthwhile was voicing Buzz Lightyear.  Otherwise it's all been pretty bad.  Santa Clause anyone?  He's pretty much filled the shoes Martin Short and Rick Moranis used to wear.

I hate movies with incessant product placement, from the sounds of it, this movie is litered with it.    Its bad enough our stadiums are named stuff like "DTE Energy Music Theater" these days.  retard

Oh come now - that movie where he played a hasbin of somebody from a Star Trekish like show was pretty good.

But beyond that, yeah, his career is pretty much sunk.

Galaxy Quest was a brilliant movie and suprisingly funny.  i always thought it looked like a ridiculous waste of time but was completely surprised when i caught it on tv one sunday afternoon.  it's worth checking out despite tim allen's presence.

Galaxy Quest was indeed a great movie.  Other than that I have a hard time thinking of anything good that he's done.

And wasn't there a movie just last year called Sky High that was pretty much the exact same concept as this one?  I didn't see that one either, so maybe there are differences.

Agreed.  I enjoyed it myself.  Besides, it stars The Metitron from Dogma. How bad could it be? slywink

Galaxy Quest is one of the best "background movies" in existence.

I agree; highly recommended!

It's also hilarious to check out the DVD and look at what dubbed languages you can play it in.  Dare I say, best Easter Egg ever?  icon_twisted

Downright hysterically funny in parts. Go check it out immediately, tonight even. The kids should even be able to watch it and laugh.

"The chompers?"
"Hold, please."
"It's all real."
"Don't forget the recyclables!"
"Well, at least he's outside."
Pretty much anything Guy says.

Genius I say. Sheer genius. Oh, and Sky High was hilarious as well. People sometimes forget that Kurt Russell can be royally funny when he tries and he's in top form in Sky High. That being said the film focuses mainly on the high school kids and they all bring their A game. I was expecting fluff but I found something better. Plus, Dave Foley and "The Bruce" both have very funny background roles. There are several gags happening in the background throughout the movie and it's definitely an entertaining family film without being an insulting one.

Galaxy Quest is worth owning to me.  Yeah, there are a few slow parts, but it's one of the best sci-fi spoofs out there.

It also has Tony Shalhoub in it.  He is brilliant as the anti-Scotty.

i also thought Teb was a great character...love his facial expressions and laughed at damn near everything he did onscreen.  the actor who played that role (jed rees) was also in The Ringer recently and was absolutely hilarious as a 'mentally challenged' athlete.  i know i'll be burning in my very own special circle of hell for laughing at The Ringer, but it was a damn funny movie.

I loved Galaxy Quest. I went and saw it alone in the theater because my dad and brother insisted on seeing something else. I dragged them back to see it with me the next day. Great movie.

"Whoever wrote this episode should die!"

Great performances all around, good special effects, and a great skewering of Star Trek and its fans. It was fantastic.

And it had Justin Long in it. Always a plus.
