So?  Who is it?  Who is your pick for the toughest hombre that still walks this earth?

The more I see, read and hear of him, the more I am convinced my pick is truly the baddest mofo to EVER live, let alone to still be alive.  He's up to comic-book hero badass standards.

Fedor Emlianenko.

He may not look like much, but this guy kicks ass like he's buying groceries.  If he wasn't such a pleasent, cordial human being, he would be the most frightening person on the planet.

Fedor is prides current champion de jour.  He has a great ground and pound game (Where he takes you to the ground and pounds you into oblivion, hence the name.  And is fairly good on his feet (fighting dstanding up)  I think he's really good (Specially since he actually subbed a few people showing he isnt all pound)  but with anyone, a good striker can drop him with a well placed shot.

Are we going pound for pound, or just plain overall?  BEcause clearly Silva should be recognised smile

Silva is another scary badass mofo.  But still.

Saying that Fedor is "fairly good on his feet" is a major understatment.  He has never been "dropped" by -anyone- since he's grown as a fighter in the last little while.

As for your prediction... we shall see, August 28th.  There's no better striker than Crocop.  Yet, he will lose.

I'm fairly confident I won't be eating those words.

Pure persona, Fedor is ridiculous.  The guy never loses his cool, and he shows absolutely no emotion except that tiny smirk as he enters the ring.  That's it.
Bad.  Ass.

Silva on the other hand is the more traditional "Ape that can crush you" badass.  He goes crazy.  He says things like "I am afraid of no man on earth."  Traditional badass.  But not Terminator-like Fedor badass.

Anyhow, didn't mean to make this a fight-discussion (but I'm willing).  Continue!

That guy a couple of years ago who was out hiking, got his arm trapped under a boulder for several days before finally cutting it off (with a spork or something) and hiking back to safety.

That guy is the baddest living mofo.

It's probably someone we've never heard of.  Some special forces team leader perhaps.  I'd guess a NCO or Warrant Officer.  Probably US, maybe Israeli.  I'm sure you'd never know it to look at him.

Back when he was stilll alive, a good case could be made for Gunny Hathcock.

Hate to let you down, TML, but I've slipped, currently ranking number six world-wide.

For you, my loyal fan, I will have to begin a new training regimen and take on all challengers in one brutal night of ass-kicking.  Fighters, snipers, geriatric leopard killers, Lance Armstrong...  Just bring it!

PS.  Chuck Liddell is looking a little soft around the edges.

Fedor got rocked by Fujita before he got on the rear naked choke hold.

Crocopp has seemed a little soft around the edges, well maybe not that soft, but I'm still irritated he lost to Randleman.

What do you think about the youngins in UFC, like HUghes, Penn and Franklin?

I do think more of the better fighters are in Pride (As does everyone who watches).  I was always a rampage fan myself, he just tosses people around like its his job.

As for Fedor, I havent seem him knock anyone out with strikes, so he isnt a threat up top as much as he has a good defence up top.  Of course I stopped checking out Pride recently, so maybe he's suddenly become a force up top, lol.

Am I missing anyone viable?  If you say someone like coleman, I'ma keel you on principle.  smile

Yeah I'm with you on that, except add in ex-Spetsnaz.  Those guys trained under live gunfire...actually aimed at them (and yes, training casualties were horrendous).  That or a black-bag CIA or foreign government assassin.  Someone who kills for a living.

I dunno guys... I mean, the guy who cut his arm off is impressive, but not ONE episode goes by, not a ONE, where Spongebob does the exact same arm-removal thing. Seriously, he's got a hell of a survival instinct. Bad-ass? No.

For living badasses (not necesarily fighters, but just people who emanate the "That better be respect in your eyes" kind of aura, I'd have to say Vin Diesel is a hell of a lot closer than the UFC/Pride fighters (IMHO). I mean, the guy isn't even beating the crap outta people and he gets that. The Rock would be up there, and so would Russell Crowe (even though I hate the guy).

My pick would come from this photo... take the left or the right. Sam was awesome in Lean on Me; Big Mike is a daunting guy. Two very different reasons.

Posthumusly, I'd give it to the man; that size and strength stands him head and shoulders over anyone I'd be afraid of in a dark alley.

But frankly, the guy who scares the bejezus outta me most is this guy :
