Yeah, FOX is not just impartial, they are a blatant propaganda machine. In my life, I've never seen anything like it, and am amazed that this is what has become of a major network in the U.S.

I'm all for free speech, and there's obviously a market for their brand of "news", but they have taken bias to new, astronomical levels.

My favorites are when Republican politicians get caught for doing something wrong, Fox News "accidently" replaces their "R" tag with a "D" tag.  Fair and balanced all the way.

I'm not sure why people pick on Fox for their slant when something like CNN has its own slant.  The sad thing is that all of our new sources in the U.S. are tainted in some way by a particular agenda.

Fox goes far beyond having a subtle slant. And ragging on Fox isn't necessarily a commendation of CNN or any others. I think CNN is garbage, essentially tabloid journalism, but not in the same league with Fox when it comes to promoting a political agenda.

Shit like this needs to be called out because it is simply incorrect. FOX is a completely different animal. It is not a "slant".

why?  this isn't about politics or religion, it's about one network printing an outright lie in a newspaper and another networks response to it.

I'd like to see you prove that. I've yet to see CNN deliberately present false information in order to promote liberal views, as opposed to Fox' way of distorting or lying to promote conservative views. Examples of the latter are already produced in this thread. Examples of the former are not.

You're on.

Okay, good to see we could get that cleared up.

You can't prove that CNN fabricates news (or worse, as you're implying), so the conclusion must be that they don't.

Edit: Also, this isn't a thread about news bias. It's a thread about news fabrication. Are you accusing CNN of fabrication or bias? If it's bias and worse than FOX' fabrication, it'd better be one HELL of a bias.

Honestly, CNN may lean a bit to the left, but nothing overboard. They are horrible journalists though, really bad reporting on the TV channel, and like twitter and Facebook way too much.

MSNBC is much more left biased, but for the most part during the day you can watch them and it's normal news reporting. Stupid at times, but not that biased. It's not until the commentary shows come on that it gets extreme biased.

Fox is biased from the start of the day to the end of it. They don't do normal news reporting. From Fox and Friends on, its completely one sided propaganda. Full of misquotes, or one sided looks at the stories. They don't even pretend to do real news throughout the day. It's all commentary.

It usually seems to me that the people calling CNN the Communist News Network haven't really seen it. It's just that Fox is all they will watch or read, it's all they know. They are told repeatedly that everything else is liberal media and they believe it.

The thing about this is that chances are the view of whether or not you think Fox News sucks depends on your political view.  Lines will tend to be drawn on that basis and thus this should be in the forum section dedicated to that.  This should be moved.

About the awesome paragon of unbiased journalism, CNN deliberately failed to report news in Iraq. That is completely different than overstating a case about who did or didn't cover a story.  To each his own, I guess.

Not only that, but every serious news publication I know about do the same thing. Imagine a kidnapping case where a journalist managed to find out that the police was planning to take out the kidnappers during a money exchange and how they were going to do so. Publishing that could and probably would lead to someone's death, and the press doesn't want that. The media has great power, but they also have a large degree of responsibility considering the information they get access to as part of their profession.

Edit: I don't count causing attrition during wartime as part of this journalistic integrity. If the press reports news from the front that leads to reduced support from the people back home, that's just the way it is. The exception is, of course, when they bring reports that could put people's lives in danger. That would be bad.

You can actually pinpoint when journalistic integrity was fully and completely obliterated.  When troops were met by camera crews on the beach when we went to Kuwait, it was all over.  People's 'need to see' now overrides all manner of safety and sanity.
