The local media has been covering the poor guy at the Rangers ballpark nonstop every night around here.  His son is 6.  The man was a decorated volunteer firefighter.  And he was conscious after he hit the ground.

That's a great shot. That Rangers incident was a needless and sad tragedy. I can understand the excitement of being in the moment, but can't imagine personally the impulse to leap over a railing to catch the ball.

The ball was also nowhere near him.  It landed quite a distance away, far short of where he was standing, so his risk was completely pointless.
