Just a little FYI, if you havent seen Wolverine and wants to, the linked articles contains spoilers about Deadpool.

On-topic - Bryan Reynolds is a pretty interesting character,I can see him carry this kind of movie as the main lead, especially if its a bit slapstick. he did pretty well in Blade 3 IMO (*fears the flames*

I still haven't seen Wolverine yet, but Ryan Reynolds seems like the perfect cast for Deadpool. Anyone who has seen Van Wilder or even his old TV show, knows that he can play a smart ass really well. It also doesn't hurt that he's in good shape physically.

I liked Reynolds in Blade 3, but I'm not about to say that I *liked* Blade 3.  smile

honestly, I'll be glad if they skip over Magneto to do Deadpool, especially if they insist on using CGI to make Ian McKellen younger.

I wonder if they'll have him use his magnetic powers to whip his walker at people?

Good idea. Deadpool looks like an interesting character to build a movie around. They're gonna have to work around what happens to him at the end of the 'Wolverine' movie, and give him back his mouth, though.

Deadpool regenerates so that won't be a problem.  heck, apparrently he's also damn near immortal as he's alive 1000 years in the future according to the latest Cable comics.

(Spoilers)

They would have to work around the end of Wolverine when Deadpool is shown to be still alive and with a mouth?

hmm,i have no idea what you mean

if you stayed after the cast credits, you get the Military Police arresting Stryker

if you stayed after the whole credits

you get wolverine getting served a drink form a Japanese Barmaid and tells her that he is drinking to remember..i at first thought the Barmaid to be Mariko, but then rethought as she(Mariko) is meant to be a noble woman, but then again it could be telling us that Logan is in Japan where he meets and falls in love with Mariko

so,what does that have to do with the Deadpool spin-off,have i missed something?

There were two post-credit endings depending on the theater.  Some showed the Wolverine ending, some showed the Deadpool ending.

I didn't see the Deadpool post-credit ending (I had the Wolverine ending as well), but Harkonis wrote a quick explanation here.

Ryan Reynolds speaks about Deadpool movie

Quote
“That movie is alive and kicking, and then it’s dead as a doornail. Then it’s alive and kicking and then it’s dead… it’s like the worst relationship I’ve ever had!”

“The character knows he’s a comic-book character, he knows he’s in a film, he knows who the executives are at the studio making the movie,” Reynolds explained. “In the current iteration of the script, Deadpool is aware of the Wolverine movie. He doesn’t say anything disparaging about it but he does at one point play with the Deadpool action figure with some curiosity.”

This movie could be genius, but I think the part that execs struggle with is that Deadpool just isn't a well known character, sadly.  As great as the game was, I think it underscored that point well.  A lot of people said "I've never heard of Deadpool until now, but this game was a lot of fun!", and when you are talking 100 million dollars or so to make a movie, I imagine that would make folks very nervous.

Den of Geek

Quote
After what seems like a long time where there was no progress, it seems the wheels might just be beginning to turn where the long-mooted Deadpool movie is concerned. We've been talking about the possibility of this film ever since Ryan Reynolds took on the role is the primarily dull X-Men Origins: Wolverine. But last week, Ryan Reynolds told Yahoo that the film had taken "a few very, very small tiptoes forward", confirming that it's a low budget project with "minimal impact on the studio". He also confirmed that it's targeting an R rating.

Now, Clevver Movies has got an update from the director of Deadpool, Tim Miller. Miller confirmed that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick's script is in place, that he's ready to go, and that Ryan Reynolds is read to go. "Deadpool is still alive", he confirmed, "and we're just waiting for the studio to embrace what an amazingly fucking awesome film this would be".

"We will never give up", he said, "we just need that elusive green light".

It can't just be us that desperately hopes they get it. Kick-Ass proved that you can have a lower budget, R-rated comic book movie and see it bring in a solid return. Hopefully, Fox has twigged the same thing, and is finding some loose coins down the back of its plush executive sofas right about now...
