Die hard 4 teaser trailer.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this because even though I hate the director with a vengence (pun intended) I still think even half-ass John McClane is better than no John McClane. Although "Transformers" absolutely gets my money July 4 first.

Looks fine as an action movie I suppose, but if it wasn't for the tag lines in it I would have no idea that was a Die Hard movie instead of some generic Bruce Willis action movie. The trailer just didn't convey the *feeling* of a Die Hard movie.

Willis just looked way too calm and collected (and perhaps bored) there. A lot of the fun of the McClane character was always the "How the f*** am I going to get out of this one" appearance that he always conveyed.

I liked the Underworld films, so as long as the story doesn't become a jumbled mess, the rest should be OK.  I hope McClane gets roughed up a bit though.  Sporting the leather, he looked a little too clean and suave in the trailer.

Never even heard of it until just now.. and it's already coming out tomorrow??
I don't watch a whole lot of TV (but enough to know what's going on) and it makes me wonder just how good a movie can do if nobody knows about it. (Ie, Bloodrayne.)

Not sure what Nth Power is doing checking out McClane's looks for (not that there's anything wrong with that  icon_wink) but I'm definitely interested in seeing what the story's about as well, hard to get an idea from that trailer.

Probably a rental for me.

Die Hard in the afternoon, Transformers in the evening.  Hopefully they don't add another big on on the 4th.

It looks terrible.  CGI car flips. Ridiculous car into the helicopter.

They've gotten Independence Day into my Die Hard.

I wonder if it will be as bad (or worse) than the intolerably bad Terminator 3.

What's the story in this movie?  Trailer sure doesn't convey it. Die Hard: masterpiece. DHII: Very good. Great small part work by a pre NYPD Andy Sipowitz. DHIII: ATROCIOUS DHIV: by the trailer, makes III look like I.

Know what movie I'm actually Pumped about? Rocky Balboa...that's what.  I can't believe it myself.

T3 was better than it had any right to be despite more than a few choices that were just... odd. If I had one majorly negative thing to say it would be the whole film felt rushed. I loved the balls it showed with the ending, although from a Terminator fan point of view they should have used Brad Fiedel's theme over the final sequence.

Here that sound? That's the clue phone ringing. You may want to answer it so you can get a clue.

If you compare 3 to the first two which are both masterpieces, it's not even ironically laughable at how poor T3 is.  1 and 2 are events with complex science fiction plots intertwining.  3 is a popcorn action movie.  It doesn't belong in the series. It's like Rocky V.

Was there any doubt in T3 that Arnie would win?

In T1 you had no idea if the good guys would win. In T2 they actually convinced you that Arnie was dead.  Talk about suspense.  T3. Terminatrix. PLEASE!

If I'm remembering the ending correctly- they didn't win.

Though, I agree, T3 is a poor movie.  It was passable fun in the theater, I suppose, but I've had zero desire to ever see it again.

Assuming the goal was to keep Arnie from completing his mission and insure that John Connor would be born, they did win.

Since we've deviated from the original topic I created this Terminator discussion thread.

I'm still curious about "Live Free or Die Hard" though I am disappointed Bruce went bald for the role. True it's almost been 20 years since McClane went Nakatomi on the first crew of bad guys but I miss the McClane "look."

Um. Hello. If you saw the first one you knew that the Terminator wasn't dead until his eyes went out. Well guess what. His eyes went out in T2.  I was like "Oh $h!&...I guess sarah's gonna have to figure a way out of this one."

I agree. Bald bad ass isn't McCLane's character. He should be a balding paunchy middle aged guy who gets drawn back into something.  Not Yul Brenner.

Take your Terminator talk to the appropriate thread.

So, as for this new Die Hard...that trailer did not look especially great.  Here's a clue: shooting a fire extinguisher is not going to make a flaming explosion.  Cause it puts out fires.  That's it's job.  CG car crashes can rot in hell, too.

Ah, that explains it. I misread the preview where it said:

You can also see it in theaters this weekend, starting Friday, December 15th, in front of Fox's Eragon.

To me that sounded like it was opening alongside of Eragon. But of course if I had scrolled down a little further..  icon_biggrin

I had an ear-to-ear grin on my face when I saw this trailer in the theater last night (don't ask me what I was watching on a second date).  The Die Hards are about blowing sh*t up along with a healthy dose of quips.  They're popcorn action flicks through and through.  If that's what this one delivers then I'll be pleased.

T3 lacked the depth of the first two but it was still a decent action movie.  C'mon, carrying a coffin and a mini-gun?!  That's some quality action right there my friends.   icon_biggrin

The new trailer is out.

I don't know about this now. From the looks of things, McLaine is all super hero now. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but it makes the movie look even dumber than I figured it would be. But then the jet plane comes in and blows shit up and I get all happy again in that special way. What can I say? The power of the American military makes me jump for joy. I think it's funny that they "blinked" though and moved the film up a week instead of opening it against "Transformers." They must have seen the new shots on the web and realized just how hard a beat down that film will deliver to everything else short of Harry Potter.

It looks like the Military is the "bad guy" though since it seems they are shooting at McClain...

+1 for Kevin Smith though and his command center/basement...
