Deep Blue Sea is a bad film, but it a good bad film.  It's watchable, somewhat entertaining, somewhat funny and just plain dumb.

Here's a candidate...

Come on, 3 pages and not one vote for "Plan 9 From Outerspace" or "Santa Clause Conquers the Martians"?  Let's get some classics in here!

Consider this a vote for Hercules Goes Bananas.

I'm not sure if you made that one up or not, but plugging it into IMDB results in an old Arnold Schwarzenegger   movie called "Hercules goes to New York".  It seems to be about Herc opening a gym in Manhatten.

Highlander 2 was indeed a truly awe-inspiring crap-fest.  And I wasn't even expecting that much from it.  Dear god, the villains alone in that film would rival any other horrible movie.

Michael Ironside: your ticket to crappy movies!

DUDE!! Starship Troopers rules. Yes, I realize I'm one of four defenders of the movie, but I love it and Ironside is awesome in it. biggrin

I liked Starship Troopers too.  It's the perfect "guy" movie.

Why on earth did you see it?

Bingo. It was his first movie and he didn't speak English so he was dubbed. Badly. Hilarious doesn't do it justice.

That was one of the finest things ever put to film, and complettely removes it from consideration in this thread.

I'd have to agree there. Deep Blue sea was mostly lame but that was a great scene.

Quote from: "tiny ogre"
And just for the sake of adding another movie no one's mentioned, I'll throw out that one with George Peppard and John-boy from the Waltons.  Battle Beyond the Stars or somesuch.  Bad star wars ripoff.
Hey I think I remember that flick. One of the guys was called "Space Cowboy", and i don't remember it being bad at all - no star wars mind you but a highly enjoyable flick (granted i was probably in still in grade school when I saw it)

Battle Beyond the Stars is a loose retelling of "The Magnificent Seven" (even has Robert Vaughn) which in turn is a retelling of "The Seven Samurai." I own The Magnificent Seven, have seen Battle Beyond the Stars a few times and have never seen The Seven Samurai. I know some cinephiles (is that a word?) would commit me to Hell for that.

I'd vote Star Wars Episodes I-III as the worst films based on what they did to destroy the Star Wars franchise (for me anyway.) They're so cold and overprocessed it's like watching an automated assembly line where every once in awhile a fight breaks out. How bad is it when the only character you can emotionally attach to is R2D2?

SW1-3 are pretty damn bad.  For me, it doesnt even pass the 'but it's still starwars' muster.

Movies like that?  Better left unmade.

was Gerry the one where they got lost in the desert? That was pretty bad

+1 for Master of Disguise - the wife and I left the theatre 20 minutes in and popped into MiB2

I'm going with Battlefield Earth. Baby Genuises might be worse than that one, but I've never seen it.

I'd also like to nominate Corky Romano and Son of the Mask please.

Open Water 2! A bunch of vapid people get in the water and can't figure out how to get back on their yacht. Even all the skin couldn't save that stinker from being the worst movie I have seen in the last few years.

I suppose Troll 2 should be thrown in.

Wow...I love V for Vendetta.  73% at RottenTomatoes, too.

Some real stinker movies in this thread.  What does it say about M. Night Shamalamadingdong that 3 of his movies - the Bitch in the Pool, The Crappening and the Last Airhead - could be in the running for this title?  We also shouldn't forget (or maybe we should) Gigli, a slew of Eddie Murphy "comedies", the Disaster Movie and quite a few others.

But I think for me it comes down to two movies - Battlefield Earth (2% at RT) and Pinocchio with Roberto Benigni (0% at RT).  I think if I had to watch either, my head would 'plode.

There have been many movies I've felt physically ill that I spent $8 on at the theater, but the one that stands out in my memory (and what I compare all bad theatrical movies to) is Toys with Robin Williams.

I can't remember anything about it other than the fact that I walked out of the theater literally stunned and feeling like I wanted to cry to get my money back.

Toys was definitely a bit weird but I kinda liked it myself.  I certainly wouldnt pick it as the worst movie ever.

I consider myself fortunate to have missed a lot of the movies mentioned so far (but hey, I did like the hokey vibe of Signs).  But I've still seen some pretty bad ones:

The Emerald Forest

and:

Beaches  (aargh--in a theater full of women)

and how about:
