From Straczynski and Lee: Can't say I'm a fan. However, in trying to find a clean copy of the drawing, I came across this mock-up of Cobie Smulders as WW... ...and, yeah, I, uh...yeah.

I have fond memories of the Lynda Carter Wonder Woman TV series from the 1970's. It was a nice intro to puberty. Most men are Wonder Woman "fans" in the same way they're fans of Women's Beach Volleyball, which is why I think a WW movie will have a tough time of it. They'll have to balance the sex appeal with trying to have her taken seriously. It'll be interesting to see if it's more like Alias/La Femme Nikita or Xena/Buffy

I think the kick assedness of WW is the thing to hit. The sexiness will follow naturally. All of the charcters you mention are appealing to both men and women. As for the Lynda Carter WW, we've been watching that with my daughter. It's amazing how quickly that show drops in quality. The first season is pretty great, though (there are some clunkers for sure). Even part of the second season is decent. It wasn't the shift in time periods that killed it, it was Carter's lack of interest, IMO. She makes that show work in the beginning. She has this charsima that just sells it. The ridiculous outfit doesn't look ridiculous on her. She's even believable in the dual role thing (as in, you can buy that no one puts it together). As she tries to modernize Diana Prince, that goes away. And, as an actress, she clearly starts to coast. She doesn't know her lines, she's not invested in the scene, etc. It's too bad, because she was really a force at the beginning. Finally, here are two more of Cobie Smulders:

I'd like a villain movie where the bad guy is center stage and wins at the end. Maybe Apocalypse.

It's the pants. They take away what's iconic about the character. I can understand taking away the bikini or even the skirt in some instance, because let's face it, it does look dated, but in that case, why not a black skirt or a black bikini with some white stars on either of them. The pants just look out of character for her.

I kinda like it, but then again I've always found the previous Wonder Woman costume to look terribly stupid, even for something as silly as a superhero costume.

I normally don't collect comic books but once in a long while I get back into a series just based on who is writing at the time. I hoped that JMS would bring some excellent stories to wonder woman so I made my way down to the local comic book store to buy the issue. "Sold out", they said. "As soon as the media released the new pictures of the costume we sold out in two days. We're hoping they reprint it."
Damn.
