This actually looks like it might be good. It might be a nice replacement for Justice League Unlimited.

I never was into comic books, but what made Gambit so good? Why is he more powerful than a guy with a pistol? I'm sure there are years of comics I could read to explain his appeal, but I'm too cheap and lazy to do that.

Gambit was trained his whole life to be a nimble and graceful thief.
What makes Gambit a superhero is his ability to manipulate the Universal Conservation of Energy, specifically Kinetic and Potential Energies.
He can intuitively and instantly take something as innocuous as a playing card or toothpick, and transfer into it the Potential energy of something akin to a bowling ball at the top of an 10 story building or perhaps more. It will hold that potential energy until the item is released from his grasp an makes an impact against something else, releasing all the potential energy as Kinetic energy.

looks like it has great potential...count me in! it will be really hard to meet the standard set by the original X-Men cartoon though....most faithful comic book adaptation i've seen on TV, and a damn good show. unfortunately, it doesn't look like we'll be getting to see this show for almost another year. the Marvel website says it will be debuting along with a new Ironman cartoon on NickToons in first quarter 2009...

Ill watch it. The runt was always my favorite comic book character..even now. he even beats out Batman. And I always liked Gambit too. I never understood the Gambit hate.
EDIT: and its nice to see those old uniforms again after all these years.
EDIT2: ..Sentinels best non sentient villain ever.

I completely agree. I have many excellent memories from the outstanding original cartoon. However, I see some very good possibilities from this. About bloody time we got the X-Men back in animated form.

that's the only bad part. 2009 is so far away!!! maybe in the meantime they'll put the original cartoon out on DVD so I can finally see all of it!

For me, it's because I'm Cajun and so is Gambit. Plus he was one sly motherfucker. Just like me! (I wish)

Marvel has been using their recent success to try and buy back a lot of their properties and release them for fans, but Disney isn't budging so far... that said, i do have an old VHS tape in my closet with recordings of both the the Phoenix Saga and Saga of the Dark Phoenix. the quality stinks, but they're still watchable. i really should work on transferring them to a better format though...

Thank you for the typo fix. I tried a dozen variations and even watched a few minutes of GK gameplay on youtube (I didn't realize the girl from King of Queens did Grace's voice!) before I gave up. That line got burned into my mind from the number of times I had to ask it.

Looks really good!
Seems like they are meshing a bunch of big, older storylines (Genosha, Days of Future Past) and making it a bit more current to the present comic book line (bringing in the White Queen, etc).

Well Disney does have to have something worth a crap on thier shelf that they haven't tried to milk to death. Hopefully they don't have the option to do anything with the Marvel stuff.

Hopefully they don't have the option to do anything with the Marvel stuff. they only have control of a bunch of the old Marvel cartoons because they bought the production company that made them ( Saban Entertainment)...doesn't give them the power to create anything new with those properties. it's really pretty impressive to see all the shows Disney owns thanks to that purchase...and will likely never use in any way. just click the link above for a full list...

from the X-Man Animate Series Wiki page: As of 2008 this series is planned for release on Region 2 DVD in the UK in 2008 by Liberation Entertainment[1]as part of a release schedule of Marvel Animated series.[2] damn Brits- if only the founding fathers had seen this coming.
