Ok, I don't know if the Eagles will win this game or not, in fact 9 out of 10 experts are picking against them, but if there is a God in heaven, please please please make it happen! Isn't time to end the suffering? We desperately need this Super Bowl win.

The Patriots have had plenty of success recently and 2 Super Bowl wins in 3 years is a tremendous accomplishment.  3 in 4 years is just getting greedy. And let's face it, Tom Brady has to lose a playoff game sooner or later. Please make it be this one.

As a long-suffering Philadelphia Eagles fan who has watched almost every game for the past 25 years (yes, that's a lot of bad football), all I can say is PLEASE let it be our turn!

Can't wait till Sunday! Yet at the same time I'm deathly afraid of Sunday...

BINGO!  This is exactly why I hate the Eagles and they should lose.  TO is an absolute ASS!  Not to mention the "full of themselves" Philadelphia sports fans.  Nothing personal to our friends in Philly. :wink:

As a New Englander (and Red Sox fan), I sympathize, but not enough to actually want the Eagles to win.  Go Pats!

Though I am glad we're playing the eagles, so either we win or a deserving franchise gets to win.

I guess I'm greedy.  I just want to keep enjoying this great ride of the Patriots as long as it lasts.

How many hours to gametime?  sigh.

I don't really care for either team, but I want the Eagles to win because the Patriots have already won so much recently.  Underdog psychology or something I guess.

The following is coming from a die-hard Eagles and Pats fan. Pats season ticket holder too.

The Eagles have a REAL shot at winning this game.

They are balanced on both sides of the ball and have enough players who make plays to get the win. I'm not sure they will, but the certainly can.

Why couldn't the Eagles have beaten Tampa so they could have crushed the Raiders!!?!?!?! :cry:

Now Dallas is a speedbump for the Eagles.

Pats fans don't trash talk. We just always assume the best team will win. Win or lose, we will always cheer our team.

This has been a pretty boring postseason, with the exception of the Jets games.  Everything's gone according to form, for the most part, and the games that were supposed to be good haven't lived up to their billing.   :cry:   So, I'm not expecting much from the Superbowl.  I don't have strong feelings for or against either team, but since the Patriots are the favorite, I'm assuming they'll win.  Ho-hum.

The Patriots are the dream crushers.

See Pitt Squeelers (Homefield and tons of towels to dry your eyes);
      Cinci Bangles (keep trying, you will get over .500 someday);
      St. Louie Lambs (Dynasty-NOT);
      Peyton "Whinner" Manning (Emphasize this);

Soon to see Philly Eggles (City of Brotherly Self-Loathing)!

I can't wait to see what touchdown celebration T.O. has cooked up for the Super Bowl. I thought his Ray Lewis mock celebration was just about the funniest thing I ever saw. I'd really like to see him do 2 or 3 TD dances... that would be a guaranteed Eagles victory.

But Donovan McNabb does so I'm rooting for them.  I actually think the Eagles have a better shot at winning then most people are willing to believe.  The Pats are great because they do truly embody the team spirit, which is rare in the modern era NFL but my money's on the Eagles.

Also, Bill Belichick needs to stop wearing that silly headband.

Silly headband or not, I'd take BB as the coach of my 49er's any day of the week.  He deserves every ounce of praise that he gets.  But come on, is he coaching a professional football team or warming up for his Jazzercise class?      :wink:

See.. now the game I was watching was exciting up until the last couple of minutes. At that point I had resigned the Eagles to a loss because of their complete lack of any real offensive plan.

You can blame the Eagles lost on 3 factors

1:  Patriots Defense (turnovers)
2:  Lack of running game
3:  Terrible, Terrible time management.

Very disappointed right now with the Eagles loss. frown

Credit is due to the Patriots who played great defense and were effective moving the ball on several long drives against the Eagles (which no teams - except PIT - were able to do this season).

I hope Philadelphia can learn from this experience and come back stronger and more focused next season. I certainly don't think this is a one-and-done type of team like the Giants, Panthers and Bucaneers of recent NFC history.

Props to T.O. for stepping up and playing a huge game. I only wish McNabb could have played as well. Great Eagles team, great season, but the better team won.

Congrats to the Patriots!  Hopefully we'll be there for a rematch in Super Bowl 40.

You should definitely enjoy it.  The Pats deserve everything they got.  What a great team, top to bottom.

But speaking as a 49er's fan, I know what it's like to enjoy years and years of dominance followed by years and years of ineptitude and bottomsucking.  I know the Pats were a joke many years ago so it's their (and your) time to live it up.  But the NFL, like everything else, is cyclical, so like I said, enjoy it because the next thing you know, the dynasty will crumble and you're going 2-14, staring at the first pick in the draft and bracing yourself for more frustration at the hands of an ownership that doesn't know an endzone from a calzone.

But again, enjoy it because you guys earned it.

Terrible, Terrible time management.

Yeah, this destroyed them.  There was, I think, 5:42 left when the Eagles were down by 10.  Instead of going No Huddle, the Eagles huddled after every play.  No sense of urgency.

Then when they score they decide to do an onside kick with just under 2 minutes left (if I remember correctly) instead of kicking it all the way and letting their defense, who had done pretty well in the last drive against the Pats (not to mention most of the night), try to stop the Pats and have them punt (which happened anyway) in order to get good field position.

Truly the Eagles pulled a Vikings move (I'm a Vikes fan, born and bred) and totally forgot about time management and common sense.  It's really too bad because I think the Eagles could have tied the game had they gone into the No Huddle and did a full kick instead of an onside one.

Maybe that's just me though.  I'm glad the Pats won honestly, the Eagles can continue being in the same misery mine is in (losing Super Bowls) biggrin

Thanks RightBastard.

In the NFL, you are one season or a couple injuries away from 2-14. That's why I am cherrishing every moment. Long time Pats fans know what it feels like to cheer a joke. We know this won't last forever.

and you are correct, EngineNo9, I didn't do shit but sit a bar all season, eat Irish stew and drink coke and scream my head off. The team won it!!

Another Patriots fan who realized last year just how special a time we are in, and I've been enjoying every minute.  We aren't that far from a 5-11 season in 2000.

That said, I'd like another Patriots Championship parade next year!  smile

Yeah.  What was with the choice for the on-side kick?  Terrible.  Not to mention that it was one of the worst onside kick attempts I have ever witnessed but why even bother?  They HAD been stopping them all night and could have easily gotten the ball back with at least 30 seconds (I don't know how many TOs they had).  Oh well, it wasn't meant to be.

Ah come on, Engine, give the fans their due.  The team went out there and won it but that's the whole point of being a sports fan:  getting to share in the glory and the shame of their respective franchise.  While the fans didn't do anything per se, they still have the right to take a small piece of the glory for themselves, don't they?

Yeah.  What was with the choice for the on-side kick?  Terrible.

Most people don't understand this.  The prevailing opinion is that they wanted to try it and if they got the ball they had 2 timeouts to work with versus kicking it all the way down and giving Brady more room to pass (a dangerous prospect at that time in the game) and make a first down, thereby negating the 2 timeouts.

I still think it was stupid, I'd go with my defense that had been pretty darn good, but what do I know *shrug*
