stuff sits in my outbox for 2+ hours before it moves into the sent box.

I've been wondering the same thing. Some of mine have sat for days, and never did get sent.

Maybe they don't go to "Sent" until they are read by the recipient?  I was wondering that too, so that was the best guess I had.

Hmmm, I'll look into this.  I've not noticed any latency but that doesn't mean its not there.  Keep me posted if you see any other fluctuations.

I sent a test message to myself and this does seem to be the case.  The message moved from my Outbox to the Sentbox after I opened it from the Inbox.

Also, I found that if you want to "unsend" a message that the recipient hasn't read it, you can delete it from the Outbox and it will disappear from the recipient's Inbox.

Yep - it stays in your Outbox until the recipient reads it, then it's moved to Sentbox.
