I'm debating starting to watch this series and wanted to check the pulse of the GT televised nation. Who here has watched the show and digs it? Is it worth starting from the beginning and burning through? Thoughts? Opinions? Comments?

Definitely worth starting at the beginning and watching. While it is a sci-fi show, there is a lot of character development. While some of the special effects are a bit cheesy, a lot of them are done very well. It does get a little weird towards about the 8th season (I think), but overall it's impressive that it lasted for 10. I personally would like to get the series set for Christmas, but that's doubtful because of how expensive it is.

A must watch from start to finish. Dumb me though skipped the first season or two back when it came out. It originally came out on Showtime. I watched the first episode and said to myself "Macgyver is playing O'Neil with a comedy slant?? ok no thanks" and did'nt watch it again till it hit the Sci-Fi channel whenever that was. Stupid me. It was awesome . I went back and watched all the stuff Id missed and I missed it when it was cancelled recently. Im now loving Atlantis though so not all is lost.

I really like the series, although the episodes in the last couple seasons were hit and miss with me.
It has a nice mix of action/humor/drama without getting too serious. Watch it from the beginning! Then watch Stargate Atlantis!

Loved it. It was a great show to watch with my wife who also loved it. They managed to capture a great ensemble cast with a lot of the vibe of Star Trek: TNG. I'm probably going to watch the whole thing again in a couple of years when my kids are older.
The Go'auld (sp?) were great enemies but the worst were The Replicators. click-click-click-click...

I may be hanged and gutted for this - but I prefer Atlantis over standard SG-1. Especially after the O'Neill years.

they should have made Browder/Black another SG team with the others doing occasional cameos. They were great together but it just didn't feel quite like SG-1. |

I like Macay! I think he's funny, plus he's starting to get all gung ho now. Also, a few months back Deepdiscount had the SG1 series as a B1G1 and I bought the whole series through Season 9 (plus some other stuff. I just started Season 6 and I watch it on and off while playing on the gaming pc. |
