It can be really from anything; books, television, movies, games, but who are some of your favorite fictional characters?

Tender Branson from Chuck Palahniuk's book "Survivor" is one of the most interesting characters I've read about.  He goes through such a myriad of changes from the book's beginning to end, he's really a fascinating anti-hero of sorts.

Aeneas is the man.  I read part of the Aeneid in college and his adventures and stories were really impressive.

While I know I'm pretty late to the party, but Jack Bauer really is the shit.  I didn't understand all the Bauer love until I started to watch, and even after the first season I was pretty "eh" about the guy; but after the 2nd and 3rd seasons, damn, he is the MAN.

I love, LOVE Tamora from Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus.  What a wicked, wicked woman - and she gets it in the end, oooh does she get what she deserves!!

Edmond Dantes, otherwise known as the Count of Monte Cristo, was really a big impact on my life when I was younger and read the novel.  I actually think my thought-process on the nature of revenge and justice comes from reading this novel and understanding what Edmond was going through.

And lastly, I've read quite a few novels by Salman Rushdie, which are full of characters I can identify with and enjoy, but my favorite trio of characters come from probably my least favorite book of his that I have read.  That's probably super weird, and yeah, it even reads weird, but the love triange between Rai, Ormus Cama and Vina Apsara involves three VERY different characters, and characters that really jump off the page with personality.  I like Vina so much, whenever I make female characters in video games, I pretty much exclusively use the name Vina biggrin

SO, who are your favorite fictional characters?

Jonah from Vonnegut's Cat's Cradle.  Kurt Vonnegut himself, as he penciled himself in as a fictional character in Breakfast of Champions.

I dont' know what it is, but I really like Jason Bourne as he's presented in the movies (haven't read the book).

Maximus from Gladiator is also a favorite character of mine. Savage when necessary.  Compassionate and reasonable when necessary.

Dr. Zoidberg and Frye from Futurama.

But probably my all time favorite (without giving it much thought) would be Henry 'Indiana' Jones.

Another vote for Darth Vader & Tyrion Lannister.  I'd also add a random smattering of others:

-  Zaphod Beeblebrox (HHGTTG)
-  Raistlin (Dragonlance)
-  Fitz-Chivalry Farseer (Assassin & Tawny Man series)
-  Jules Winfield (Pulp Fiction)
-  Gandalf (LotR)
-  Godzilla (does he count?)
-  Jack Burton (Big Trouble in Little China)
