So, I've noticed a few times in both danish and American movies, I see people go to be at what to me is pretty early times. Around 10 pm and such.

And if they wake up in "the middle of the night", its around midnight. Thats when I go to bed!

I normally go to be around 11.30, 12.00 pm (or 23 -24 as we say here ;-) ), and get up again around 7. And when I go to bed, I stay awake for a short while reading before turning off the lights...

Is that really so late  compared to others?

Since our daughter never fails to wake us up any later than 7, I do try to go to bed by 11 at the latest.  That almost never works though, I always end up getting distracted by something.  So in truth my bedtime is roughly 11:30 to midnight, guaranteeing a maximum of 7 hours sleep.

I am stupid.

I generally get to bet around 3:30/4:30am, and usually need to be up by 9:30am.

Before I had kids, I would got to be between 8:00-9pm and wake up at 4:30am to work out.

Now that I have kids, it's more like 9:30pm to bed and up at 5am (although we're up multiple times throughout the night with the kids).

In college, I used to go to bed between 11pm and 1 am, but my first class wasn't until 11am and I never ate breakfast.

I go to bed at 10pm (2200) where I will either read or (two to three times a week on average) have sex with my wife until 11pm (2300) or so.

I usually wake up between 4:30 and 5:00 am.   If it's a weekend I'll try to go back to sleep but that usually just results in my lying in bed until 6am when I give up on trying to sleep and get out of bed.

On the very rare occassion where I attend a LAN party I will stay up until 3am or so but still tend to wake at 5am and then am absolutely wrecked for the next two days.

I go to bed around 0900 with the exception of Sat/Sun in which I go to bed at 0700 and awaken at 1430-1500 during the week and 1200-1230 on Sat/Sun.  I work nights though.

Usually try to get into bed around 11:30 and watch some hockey...
Drift to sleep for an hour until one of the kids wakes up for some unknown reason, deal with that for about an hour..
Then wake up again around 3:00/4:00 when the wife finishes up work, then up for the day at 6:30.

Typically I'm 0130-0730; my wife's usually asleep two hours prior, so that's when I get the gaming in.

1:30am on weeknights, 3:00am on weekends.  My wife goes to be at about 9:30-10pm so that leaves tons of time for games, reading, movies, TV every night.

When I'm being good I try to shut everything down at 10 and be in bed attempting sleep by 10:30.

Since MW2's release, I have no schedule and sort of zombie slog through the day.

I'm typically on an 11:30 - 6:30 sleep schedule. Although I find that I never really fall asleep until midnight even if I'm in bed by 11:30.

On weekends my schedule shifts to 2am - 9:30am sleep schedule. I hate waking up early and I have no issues blowing right past my usual 6:30 wake-up and sleeping in.

on a side note, i've gotten into this weird habit of setting my alarm 1 hour earlier than i should wake up.  that way, when it goes off, i wake up and think, "crap, time to get ready for work.", then i realize i have another glorious hour of sleep and i hit the snooze and go back under the covers.  it's such a great feeling...

Little B goes down between 8-8:30, I'm usually in bed by 11, then back up at 4:45 (6:00 on weekends).   I find that if I sleep any longer than that, I feel like I've wasted half my day.

my main alarm clock is set away from the bed, so I have to physically get up to turn it off.  I also have the alarm clock on my iPhone set to go off at the same time to minimize the chance I'll crawl back into bed.

10:30 p.m. if I'm doing it right, 12:30 a.m. if I'm not.  Up for work at 8.

It usually takes me anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes to actually get to sleep after I go to bed.

Between 10-11 here.  I thought I went to bed really early but it seems average around here.

Once a week or so though I just crash.  I put one of the kids to bed around 8pm and just fall asleep then.  I seem to need to catch up.

Usually between 12:30 and 2 AM, depending on how my beer ration is holding out and whether I'm enjoying gaming or just going through the motions. On sober nights boredom sends me to bed as early as 10:30 pm. I get up at 7:30.

Good grief, no wonder most people are considered sleep-deprived.  I feel like I'm courting disaster when I stay up past midnight.  I haven't stayed up until 3am since...I don't even remember when.  The night Guitar Hero 2 came out, maybe?

I can't sleep in most days any later than about 7-7:30, so I have to get to bed by midnight at the absolute latest.  7 hours of sleep is my absolute minimum, any less and I can definitely feel it.  The only day I can sleep late is Sunday, so Saturday nights are my only wee hours, and even then I can barely make it past 1am.  Plus, I don't really like to sleep late.  If I stay in bed past 8am I feel like I'm wasting the morning.

Its interesting to see how different peoples' sleep patterns really are.

I read a study the other night, about lost sleep and how to regain it. They did a study over several week, measuring peoples learning ability while sleep deprived, and wanted to see if you could recoup your lost sleep in the weekend.  The interesting thing here is, that you couldnt! People have diminished learning abilities for most of a week if they had been sleep deprived the week before, even IF they had slept a lot over the weekend.

The other interesting thing was, that you could store up sleep, so to speak. If people slept a lot one week, next weeks sleep deprivation wasnt near as devastating to peoples learning abilities the next week!

So basically, if you know you have a rough week coming up with less sleep than normally, sleeping ahead will help a lot

edit: keyboard messing up so appearently I'm missing some letters here and there...

I usually stay up until 0100.  I usually aim for stopping my gaming/movie/whatever around 1200-1230, which gives me time to wind down with a glass of water or snack before bed.  I get up at 0745.  On the weekend, it's bed somewhere between 0100 and 0400, then up around 0900-1030.  The GF goes to bed between 2200 and midnight, then up at 0720 or noon on the weekends.

I've never gotten much sleep.  In high school, I'd work until 2130, get home close to 2200, do homework until I passed out around 0130, then got up at 0600 for school.  In college, I specifically scheduled my classes late in the day, which was easy when they're mostly film classes with evening screenings.  One glorious semester, I had no classes before 1300, and nothing before 1630 on one day.  I'd stay up until 0200 or 0300, then wake up at 1000 to watch back to back episodes of ER and Judging Amy.  Those were the days...

I've had a weird journalists' life. But these days my trade media small biz lets me work roughly a 10:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. shift, give or take a few minutes.

Most weekdays I try to get to sleep around midnight. Sometimes a little earlier. Sometimes a little later if I get carried away. I usually try to wake up around 7:15-7:30 a.m.

In my newspaper days my sleeping habits very spectacularly and wildly, and I don't think it was very healthy for me to sometimes be leaving work at 4-6 a.m., or be falling asleep as late as 7, 8 a.m. and waking up in the early afternoon. I could do that madness in my 20s and 30s, but in my 40s now I don't think I could take it.
