Apparently it's coming up and just like every year, I can't think of anything. So tell me what I should want.
And yes, I know I *should* want things like a soul, brains, balls, and to be less azn. But I can't have those, so I won't ask.

I'll bet you thought you'd never say that in your life. "If I had one wish.... Norv Turner!" As a Niners fan, I'm prepared to sob my way through every Sunday from here on out. When's Frank Gore's birthday? Can we chip in and get him a decent hole through the O-line?

You want the greatest invention mankind has ever been lucky enough to own: Bacon Salt. I bought some of this and oh my god is it a great way to add the flavor of bacon to anything. No saltier than table salt, no calories, completely kosher and vegetarian, I'm planning on buying this for many people this holiday season. I just got the sample pack and am quite happy. It makes many Nutrisystem entrees taste decent and doesn't add calories. Would you normally sprinkle a bit of salt on your veggies? Try this stuff. It's like wrapping salty bacon-love around every asparagus spear or broccoli floret. Yes, I realize my moniker "WarPig" and "salty bacon-love" are a bit close in description.

My love for the bacon salt knows few bounds. It doesn't taste fake. I've been on Nutrisystem for the past few months (66 pounds lost, baby!) and only recently discovered the happiness that is bacon salt. It has given me the strength to lose the last 50 or so pounds to reach my goal weight. Nutrisystem food isn't that bad these days (think "Lean Cuisine" from the market) but it is oh so much better with the bacon salt.
Can I say it again? Bacon salt. Ooh yeah that's nice.

My birthday is coming soon, too, so I'm making this post for both of us, all I'll have to do is email the link! Besides Halo 3, and The Orange Box... and maybe BioShock - since I imagine you have the video game items already covered - here are a few of my requests and some already-enjoyed past-birthday items. Beer Category: Samuel Smith beer (pricey, but worth every penny) birthday treat extraordinaire! "The Old Brewery at Tadcaster was founded in 1758 and is Yorkshire’s oldest brewery. Samuel Smith is one of the few remaining independent breweries in England, and further is the last to utilize the classic Yorkshire Square system of fermentation solely in stone squares. The rich Samuel Smith strain of yeast at The Old Brewery dates from the early 1900s. Hops are hand-weighed by the master hop blender, and the brewing water is drawn from a well sunk over 200 years ago. First introduced to the U.S. market in 1978 by Merchant du Vin, Samuel Smith beers quickly became the benchmark ales for the emerging craft beer movement. To this day, they remain among the most awarded." Pen Category: Fisher Space Pen, Telescoping Pen "Designed for today's lifestyle, this pen writes anywhere, at any angle and telescopes down to fit easily in a pack or purse. * Replaceable pressurized cartridge continuously feeds ink to the tungsten carbide ball, allowing pen to write at any angle, even upside down * Visco-elastic ink writes smoothly and dependably on most surfaces, under water, over fingerprints, in freezing cold, extreme heat, in space * Stainless-steel, precision-machined socket prevents leaks and oozing, yet delivers uniform ink flow * Closed, the telescoping pen is just 4", fitting easily in small pockets; capless pull-out design extends to a full length pen * Durable all-metal body handles the rigors of backcountry travel * Knurled barrel offers an easy grip * Ink will not dry out for over 100 years Made in USA. Since 1967, Fisher Space Pens have been used by American astronauts on all manned space flights." ($26.25 here: http://www.penwa.com/fisher/newfrom.htm; $28.00 here: http://www.bestpensonline.com/SearchResults.jsp "Normal retail" is $35.00) Food Category: Cabot Cheddar ShakeAlong the lines of the bacon salt (thanks, WarPig, gotta check that one out, myself, lol!) is: That is Cabot Cheddar Shake ($5 per container), btw - that was the biggest pic I could find... Nutrition FactsServing Size 2 tsp (5g) Per Serving Calories 25 Calories from Fat 15 Total Fat 1.5g Saturated Fat 1g Trans Fat 0g Cholesterol 5mg Sodium 220mg Total Carbohydrate 1g Sugars 1g Protein 1g Book Category: "Good Omens" At Amazon: $7.99 & eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping on orders over $25. "The world will end on Saturday. Next Saturday. Just before dinner, according to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, the world's only completely accurate book of prophecies written in 1655. The armies of Good and Evil are amassing and everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except that a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon are not actually looking forward to the coming Rapture. And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist." "The book is a comedy and a quasi-parody of the 1976 film The Omen (as well as other books and films of the genre), concerning the birth of the son of Satan, the coming of the End Times and the attempts of the angel Aziraphale and the demon Crowley to avert them, having become accustomed to their comfortable situations in the human world. A subplot features the gathering of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse—War, Famine, Pollution (Pestilence having retired in 1936 following the discovery of penicillin), and Death..." (At least now we know where Crowley went...) Flashlight Category: Illuminator Crank Flashlights These things are kinda neat... any of a variety of hand-crank flashlights or flashlight/radio combinations. Power out, cable out, batteries dead? You can still see your way around and listen for the dreaded emergency alerts. We keep one in our garden shed, since we can never remember to bring a flashlight out there (d'oh!) Here is one of many sites that carry them: http://www.shopgadgetsandgizmos.com/products.php?name=flashlight&gclid=CL_DqN_xhI8CFQSOFQodlmyd2g ...prices range from $8.50 to $20 - or go for the one I am thinking of adding to my list, the EZ Crank Dynamo Lantern (with power outlets for cell phone charging, alternate ability to use batteries, etc.): Clearly, I have way too much time on my hands - though I will have one fewer year, in a manner of speaking, very soon, so what the heck, may as well make a b'day list! PS, I hope you appreciate that I spared you the micro-fleece and long-john info that are mandatory for New England birthdays!

NASA had problems with pens not working in space, so they formed committees to research pens, spent millions of dollars, and came up with a pen which would work in zero gravity, or upside down, or whatever... and the Russians just used pencils.

You want the greatest invention mankind has ever been lucky enough to own: Bacon Salt. I don't remember where I first heard of Bacon Salt, but a couple months ago I bought a three pack. It's freaking AWESOME! For example... this morning, for breakfast I had three soft-boiled eggs, with toast. Take the eggs, puncture the yolk with a spoon (after removing the shell completely, of course), sprinkle with bacon salt, dip toast in yolk. Absolutely delicious. I also frequently make my own french fries. Rather than put salt on them, I now put bacon salt on. Absolutely delectible. Salt on the mashed potatoes? Not any more! Bacon salt on the mashed potatoes! Microwave dinner needs salt? Stick Bacon salt on it. Now it takes like bacon and cardboard! Anywhere that salt goes, bacon salt goes as well!
