I doubt I'll actually be changing my online shopping habits that much afterwards. It will probably just be painful for that first more expensive item.
Any ideas?

Doesn't Amazon often have discounted X-Box Live subscription cards? Sometimes Microsoft Point cards, too. You could check to see there's any good deals you want to take advantage of. -Autistic Angel

They don't have the Samsung 9 series monitor in stock yet, so I can't justify that splurge.

When I heard that local businesses wanted Amazon to have to charge sales tax because they felt it was unfair I thought 'even with sales tax they'd most likely be cheaper than you anyways'.

I hope this isn't a reason for Amazon to start doing this elsewhere....

I'd imagine that most states that have a 'use' tax will try to get a deal with Amazon.

I have friends on the east coast that get a yearly statement from Amazon that they are supposed to incorporate in their taxes. I would not want a yearly statement from Amazon. Ever.

I forget how it finally played out but California and Amazon agreed to some settlement that kept Amazon from threatening to quit doing business here. Amazon threatened to give up their local California "partners".
