Inspired by the Hawaiian pizza thread. What food combinations just make you angry?
First thing that came to mind for me was ketchup on hot dogs. I can't abide by that. Its downright un-American. Mustard on hot dogs, ketchup on burgers.
I eat very little cheese anyway, but my father-in-law puts cheese on his apple pie. That's all kinds of wrong.

Gosh....I eat almost anything, some of my favorites that seem to freak others out.
Peanut buttered bananas.
Pears and Cheese.
Apples and Cheese.
Peanut buttered celery.
Salsa on eggs.

Salsa on eggs. Those are all kind of common, I thought. At one time I used to eat cottage cheese with fruit, and that was kind of new and different (as far as myself and anyone I knew had seen), but now I see it around all the time.

I always hear people say Chicagoans get angry at that. But I've lived here all my life, and have never noticed that. Personally, I could care less what condiments people put on their food. But I'm also a huge fan of the "garden dog" kind of Chicago hot dog, where it has a ton of stuff on it, like tomato and pickles and stuff (topped with celery salt, of course). When you have that much stuff on top, it really makes little difference whether ketchup or mustard is buried under all of it.

I think so too, but many find it nasty...if they only knew. Now two things my mother will eat that I find kinda nasty: Tomato and Mayo Samich. Pineapple and Mayo Samich. No friggin' way I'll ever touch either.

Probably the only thing that (very mildly) annoys me is when people like one item, and they like another - but don't like a "classic" combo of the two. My case in point is a friend who likes chocolate, and peanut butter - but detests Reese's P. B. Cups! I just go "Huh?" And Booner, I love scrambled eggs and cheese, with salsa, so I'm with you on that one. A friend of mine used to put pepper on each potato chip he ate - I thought he was nuts, and voiced said opinion, but then he asked me what I put on a baked potato (butter and pepper)... I did try it then and realized he was right, and enjoyed them, though it was a short-lived trend. Personally, I prefer plain potato flavor, so I go with unsalted chips - sorry Metal, and the rest of you Brits who call them crisps!

One thing I've actually found really good is mixing the salsa with the eggs before you cook them. But I'm a big fan of the omlette to start with, especially with cheese.
Ohh... I had this at a bar about ten years ago, it was really great: they served regular pretzels (not the big warm ones) with dijon mustard. Although I guess the big ones would be good with it also.

Never go to a steak house with somebody who is Greek Orthodox. They have to get all their meat cooked well-done. It makes you want to cry, especially when they get a really nice cut of meat.

i don't really have any weird mixes. i used to make a pb&j and banana burrito which got odd looks now and again.
my sister once mixed an unholy combo of milk, koolade (oh YEAH!) and pickle juice (oh NO!). i think she was bullshitting me though, as i never saw her drink it.

Two wonderful things (steak and beer) ruined by possibly the worst execution of each. That's a bit unfair. Fosters is not the worst beer ever. It's worth mentioning in the conversation though. gellar

I could eat scrambled eggs with salsa for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day till the day I die. I also like it on some types of omelettes. OH MAN, I'm going to make some of that for lunch...

Don't worry. We'll eat our properly cooked steaks, and enjoy the meat as it should be. They can have their flavorless, dry hunks of whatever. FYI: At dinner at a fine steakhouse Sunday night, everyone I ate with who ordered steak ordered it medium rare.

I usually order my steaks medium-rare, but sometimes I go up to medium if the steakhouse tends to grill the cuts on the rare side.
Anyone who will orders a proper steak at medium well/well done doesn't deserve to eat steak. Just order a fuckin' hamburger or go to Applebee's.

I love rare steaks, ketchup on hotdogs (but only steamed, I can't stand grilled hot dogs- the crispy skin make me want to puke) and ketchup on scrambled eggs.
I'll never understand beets or sweet potatoes though.

I saw a girl put cheese on her chocolate chip cookies the other day. Now that looked disgusting.

Agreed, but isn't that actually the normal way of way of eating steak in the civilized world? Any one who really likes food wouldn't have it done any other way. You wouldn't know the difference between a good steak and a bad one if you have to burn all the juices/fat out of it to eat it.

You are more likely to get food poisoning from a number of things before you would get tapeworms from a steak. Their is no real rationale to your argument. It's the same with the whole "bloody" thing. It's not blood coming out of your steak. A steak is considered a good cut because of its marbled fat content, it's tenderness, and it's juiciness. If you order a steak well down it removes all 3 of those things. You might as well order the cheapest sirloin you can if you want your steak well done.

I have no unholy combos. If someone likes something they like something... doesn't bother me at all, I'm not eating it. Nothing is more annoying to me than when someone tells me what I am eating is gross. Fuck off and mind your own God damn business. Especially funny when the person proceeds to light up a cigarette right after telling me.
