So I just turned (cough)(cough) and I was thinking of treating myself to something fun. Except I have most of the common toys gadgets in the "couple of hundred bucks" price range (and more):

Gaming PC (which I'm fine not upgrading for a bit)
PS3/360/Wii/Vita/DS
iPad/iPhone/MacBook
TiVo/TiVo Stream
Crap, I have a lot of stuff!

Anyway, is there a fun toy I am missing out on? (btw, I don't really want a Wii U or 3DS) I want to buy a toy!

Actually I just had a thought - sometimes I think about getting a fun gaming mouse or gaming keyboard. With the mouse I tend change my mind because my computer desk has a pullout keyboard desk and not a ton of room for a mouse (which is why I use a trackball). But either of those could be a possibility.

LOL. OK, maybe I will try to further guide the conversation.

Something else I am in the market for (although may be pushing the budget a little) is a new receiver/speaker combo, specifically with wireless surrounds so I don't need to run a mess of wires around. I have nice TV, but my home theater area is pretty no-frills and compact, and I don't need a top-notch system. I'd just like to get 5.1 (or 7.1 or 7.2) going with minimal fuss. The viewing area is only about 15 feet away so I don't need massive sound.

You could preorder an Oculus Rift? That's pretty firmly in the 'toy' category.

Yeah, I've seen the Oculus Rift, but I'd much rather wait until they at least have a consumer model and have more game support, if I ever buy in to the idea at all.

Man, that guy really likes anime chicks. Going Nvidia Surround and/or 3D Vision was actually a thought.

A camera would be nice, but I never feel like lugging around a camera and a cameraphone. I guess I don't take enough pictures. I just borrow the government's underwater propulsion units when I go on SEAL missions.

Yuck - I have dual 660Tis so I don't have to look at bad graphics slywink

So far I've got one option I've researched a little:

Onkyo TX-NR515 A/V Home Theater Receiver
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=851063&is=REG&Q=&A=details
+ Rocketfish™ - Universal Wireless Rear Speaker Kit ($99)

This would get a much better receiver than what I currently have with tons of HDMI inputs (currently I have to run everything into the TV) and 7.2 potential. I could set up my current speakers in 5.1 with the surrounds in wireless and then upgrade at a later date.

I hope I have better luck with this thread than the one to change my gamertag.

Its a bit late in the day and I can attest that the Onkyo is a nice amp but if youre interested in a reciever Amazon has an excellent Yamaha on sale today ( Gold Box ) thats a steal at $299.  It even has 4K passthrough.   Heres the link if youre interested:

Thanks for the info, although for the same price the Onkyo has 7.2 capability, 4k upscaling and most importantly 8 HDMI inputs vs 4 (with PS3, 360, TiVo and PC I already use 4) so it's a bit more future proof.

I have a Traxxas Slash trophy truck style RC that is a ton of fun for just tearing around, jumping off dirt mounds and general bashing.  When I have somewhere good to go I prefer to do the solo relaxing thing as well, not really interested in competitive track racing or whatever.

Agreed - My son and I have a Slash 2wd each and they are tons of fun for bashing and racing around. Got them for last Christmas and because there was no snow on the ground we headed to the local BMX tack and hoped the fence and had a great time racing them around the course.

My Honcho http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5USzCd7lccgI just love for the pure relaxation that crawling and trail driving is - alone is fun as I've yet to find anyone local to me.
I'm picking up a Wraith http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRzjLA77gpo later today - its a brushless setup so it'll be tons of speed.

I like watching Medic's videos on Youtube to get inspiration for mods and upgrades.
