236.75 this morning.  Which surprises me as I haven't been the most diligent this week.

231 for me today.  That's down 19lbs in 8 or 9 weeks.

Had a pampered chef party last night. Food was unbelievable.  Looks like another setback.  thumbsdown

Additionally, don't know if I'm running at all this weekend as my left shin and thigh are sore still from 2 days ago.

Don't fret Arkon.  I increased my weights when I worked out Saturday, and was pretty lazy yesterday beyond my 35 min workout.  As a result, I gained 2lbs since Sat.

Yeah this must be the weekend that everyone has a tough time.

Started with the Pampered Chef party friday night- SO delicious.

I've basically been eating poorly and in larger quantities than normal ever since.  Also, to nurse my shin and hamstring, I didn't do a long run this weekend.

Only ran 4 miles this morning as my lack of nutritional foods robbed me of my energy stores.

I'm sure I've gained at least 2...possibly 3 lbs.

With just over a month left before the marathon, it doesn't look good for me to get to about 180 prior to the race unless I redouble my discipline and avoid any more weekends (or single days) like this.

I probably won't weigh in until Wednesday as I try not to weigh myself on running days.

232 for me this morning.  Can't say I'm surprised.  I've been eating a bit more than normal and I've slightly increased the intensity of my workouts.

I've basically taken the week off from running.

First, because I have no motivation at all to take off on anything longer that 5 miles so why bother.  Plan to start up again tomorrow with...a 5 miler.  disgust
Second, I've been overwhelmingly tired despite pretty solid sleep lately
Third, tangientially, but most importantly, my left leg is still bothering me. Not a good place to be just over a month from a 26.2 mile jog.

I've also really relaxed my eating standards this week, so I fully expect to feel the impacts of that on the scale next week.

We'll see though.

Did a short run at higher intensity: 5.2 miles in 8:40 per mile pace which is fast for me. I was sucking wind.

Looks like no negative effects yet from the week off, but again, it's probably too soon to tell.

Seem to be stuck a bit, but still working on it.  Hoping to be down to 239 by the end of October.

Still stuck at 231.  Not sure why.  Probably because my weights and exercise intensity went up a bit - meaning I'm building more muscle mass.  Still...I'm not real happy about being stalled out for a week.

You guys probably hit a plateau.  I seem to have one about 250lb, where I can't lose anything else very quickly, and it takes extra work.

Today I weighed in at 261..  Thats down 17lbs from when I started.  Considering I had pneumonia, and I am on zero exercise due to lack of energy, that entire weight loss is from improved diet and calorie reduction.

I suspect I will hit the 250's range by Monday.  Which will put me near my plateau.  I estimate my ideal weight will be reached by thanksgiving.  Provided I can get back into the exercise flow.

17.2 miles this morning. 2 hrs 46 minutes and 28 seconds for a per mile time of 9:41. Not too shabby, but man I'm sure the extra 15 I'm carrying is really hampering my endurance come the later miles.

Strict diet October is here.  No sodas, extremely limit junk food and I'm going to try- for the first time in my life- to limit carbs to day before runs days.

Zounds. I'll weigh in tomorrow or the next day to see how quickly (hopefully!) things drop off.

What is going on with you!?  Up down up down up.....DOWN.

Me, I'm closing in on the precious 180s where I've spent most of my life.  I should be there by the end of the week and will post a number once I am.

I was losing weight like a mad fiend last week.  Occasionally I can drop 6-8 pounds in a week but then I get scared and decide that's too quick (which it is) so I end up eating more to slow things down.  So that's what I did and of course I ended up gaining it all back.  Weird.

Anyway I'm down to 236 this morning.  A couple years ago I decided to lose some weight (using the Atkins program - ugh) and started it when I weighed 237 so anytime I'm under that number I'm feeling like I'm on the right track.

Well, if you're really overweight, losing 8 lbs in a week isn't too dangerous as it will taper off pretty quickly. However, if you're just a few lbs overweight that's way too much too soon.

Ironman in training

View Profile
« Reply #196 on: October 07, 2006, 01:51:38 PM »

well i haven't checked in since a few months ago when this thread started, so i thought i'd give an update.  i went on South Beach with my wife early in the summer and i dropped from 217 to 190 in about 3 months (and it was very easy).

however, old habits starting to get back into my routine again and i put back on 7 lbs.

Last month the wife decided to do the Disney Marathon in January and talked me into it again like she did 2 years ago when we ran it.  So i'm 4 weeks into my training and i'm done to 195 as of this morning.  When we did the marathon 2 years ago i got down to 182.  I couldn't imagine being any lighter than that, but i hope to get close to that in the next few months while i train.

So my check in is at 195, down from 217 from last May.

260 for me, 18lb drop. But I am finding my weight loss is slowing dramatically.

I definately need to add exercise to the mix, as I want to be at my goal on Thanksgiving, or around that period.

I'm trying to stay away from the scale and just working out really hard.  I've been so focused on that number for so long that I think I need some time away from it.  I'm trying to put in ~1.5 to 2 hours per day for workout, so it should all come together in the end. smile

What was your marathon time?  I'm running my second Marine Corps Marathon on the 29th.  Hope to be at about 4:15-4:20.

As for weight, I had a rough night last night eating wise. I was starving when I got home and basically ate a full meal at 9:30 at night.  I'll pay for that next week (and am paying for it today with a slightly messed up system).

Going to do 15 or 20 miles tomorrow...We'll see.
