We've lost John Vernon and Ossie Davis

Film and television lovers everywhere are now mourning the deaths of two of the great character actors, John Vernon and Ossie Davis.

These great actors will be sorely missed, and I'm sure all of our condolences go out to their families. Everytime either one showed up on screen, it was a happy moment for me. As well-regarded as Morgan Freeman is as a "statesman of quiet dignity," I always thought Ossie Davis was infinitely more so. Little did I know he was involved in the Civil Rights movement along with his wife of 50+ years, actress Ruby Dee.

As for Vernon, who doesn't know Dean Wormer?

I didn't know Ossie Davis was 87, he sure didn't look to be in his 80's in Bubba Ho Tep. He was great as JFK

Wow, Vernon was also the voice of Rupert Thorne in the Batman:TAS cartoons.  It seems so obvious now that I know it, but I had no idea until I read the above link.  He did a good job.
