Watching Star Wars in the 'Machete Order'

Found this link via Daring Fireball.
A good read on how to watch Star Wars episodes II-IV;

I think I'm going to try his "Machete Order" of watching the films. He seems to make a strong argument for the order.

For those who don't want to bother reading the whole thing, Machete Order is watching the Star Wars series in the following order: IV, V, II, III, VI.
Note that episode I is left out on purpose. Showed this to my gf and she wants watch them in this order now.

I read that article a while back and watched them in that order. It really is the best way to watch them I think. I recommend reading through the article so you get the context as to why it makes sense to watch them that way. In short , at the end of 5 you get Vader's declaration that he is Luke's father. Then you watch 2 and 3 to get Vader's back story which flows nicely into episode 6 for his redemption. It actually flows very well together. The article spells a lot more out obviously.

It does seem like a very interesting approach to the movies, one that I might try in the future. I've tended to skip Episode 1 anyway, so the only thing that changes for me is the order.
The only real loss from skipping Episode 1 is the payoff from the Midichlorian plot. Palpatine's monologue about Darth Plagueis and its wonderful implications is quite possibly my favorite part of the prequel trilogy, and it loses some of its impact if you don't watch Episode 1 first. That moment was the instant when I went from hating the introduction of Midichlorians to loving it.
