I would like to play some nice spooky/creepy ambient sounds/music tomorrow when a few friends will be over. Does anyone have links to some mp3s or know of a good source? (I will be Googling all day).  ninja <- Like my costume?

I was thinking more along "creepy" lines.

For a hoot, play it loudly with your dog around (if ya got one).

If you can find the theme to the movie Halloween somewhere, that would be a creepy tune.

I loaded up Unreal and let the intro music play over and over one Halloween, but that was just for the Trick and Treaters.

You want the Close Encounters of the Third Kind Soundtrack.  Then you want to play Barry's Kidnapping.

If you've got Everquest installed or your old EQ disks, the .mp3s for a lot of the dungeons and planes are abolutely perfect. I went on a hunt for the same thing a year or so ago and after a couple weeks of googling, soulseeking, and asking arround they were the best I found. Additionally, a lot of instrumental tracks in gothic metal, black metal, or industrial, can serve well (think early Skinny Puppy). Also, look for pretty much any classical pieces that have "Requiem" in the title; the best being Gyorgy Ligeti's Requiem from the 2001 soundtrack (the monolith music).

Hope that helps.

If you've got American McGee's Alice, that might fill the bill too.

Portishead - Protishead - Humming  (theramins are cool)
Rob Zombie - Hellbilly Delux (might be too heavy for a general crowd though)
Edward Scissorhands soundtrack
Black Heart Procession

My initial recommendation is anything by Britney Spears but that's too obvious. Try the first Black Sabbath album.

I second the American McGee's Alice recommendation, great for creeping out the neighbors.
Aphex Twins selected ambient works is also quiet good.

Red Right Hand - Nick Cave

(I believe they played the song nearly in full during one x-files episode).

Disney has the soundtrack to their Haunted Mansion ride out.  Its kind of funny/scary.
