an actual film title in the thread would be nice, or is it 'and btw Larry's a girl now'

As a title, I think that would be a winner.
Movie is called Cloud Atlas, based on the novel of the same name.

Wow, this was a really unique book and I thought it would be almost unfilmable. But the trailer looks good. Will check it out.

I personally wasn't as big a fan of the book as many other people, but hopefully the movie turns out well. I'm not willing to watch a 5 minute trailer to find out, I'd rather just be teased than totally spoiled.
I also agree the thread title should reflect the actual movie name...

That looks great. A little reminiscent of The Fountain, but hopefully without all the suckage.

I haven't read the book or even heard of it. So just going by the trailer it just looked like a bunch of random stuff. I couldn't make heads or tails of the plot even though that trailer was so long.
But yeah did have sort of a "the fountain" vibe to it - which I actually didn't hate.

Damn, I can't believe the cast for this film - Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Ben Wishaw, Hugo Weaving, Susan Sarandon, Jim Broadbent, Hugh Grant...! That Ben Wishaw is in it means I'm IN for this opening night!

This is one of my favorite books of all time. IMHO I really like what the W-Brothers direct or are involved in. I loved the first Matrix, though that V for Vedetta is brilliant, Speed Racer (apart from some extremely cheesy moments) I believe has a lot of heart and entertaining moments. I know a lot of people will disagree and that's cool. When I watch a movie, any movie, I always focus on the positive experience and never dwell on the negative. This "talent" comes from watching anything, repeatedly, while deployed overseas

Cloud Atlas is going to be really difficult to do justice to as a film. Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2

saw this last night - i think it was good for some of the casting experiments (though i noticed there are no white people playing black people, only asians... that's kind of a cop-out!) and the overall theme, but it really didn't hang together otherwise. the original story probably works better. also, ... i think i haven't really formulated my thoughts on it. the Wachowskis are weird in that their films have Hollywood-y trappings, but i don't hate them like i would with those.

I saw it a while ago, and I was underwhelmed. The stories were tied together only with the loosest of threads in most cases. And since the genres were mashed together as well, it was really like watching 6 different films.

saw this today and thought it was decent enough. I wonder if they could have gone really experimental and fleshed out each story to make is a sextet of interrelated movies. of course I probably would have only ended up wanting to see the Neo Seoul chapter in that case.
I liked how they showed each actor and actress in their different roles at the end. Most of them I caught (Hugo weaving in drag was obvious) but some I was surprised at (High Grant as the leader of the marauders).
