I liked the idea of the book and it started off well enough but quickly went downhill when the town started falling apart. He foucsed the story on the nutty people in the town, which isn't compelling, rather than where the dome came from or what it was. I tried to stick with it but it just continued to go in the wrong direction and I've already read the town falling apart thing from King a bunch of times before - and better. So bowed out rather than slug through it anymore.

But I'll probably try and catch this and see if I can sit through it. But then again the King stories to TV movies haven't been all that great. Couldn't even make it through an hour of Bag of Bones.

It looks like the series is going to be rather different from the book.  Actually, from the preview, it kind of looks like they took some stuff directly from the book, while all some characters have in common with their book counterparts is their names.  At least two characters who die at the beginning of the book are alive and well in the trailer, Big Jim is barely even pudgy, Rusty Everett is a young firefighter trapped outside the dome, and Phil Bushey is the sober DJ of a rock music radio station.  As long as the series is good, I don't mind the changes, but I am concerned that they plan to turn this into a series if it's successful.  It seems it would be difficult to do a proper conclusion to the miniseries if they have to plan for the future.

aye, I actually hated the book as well and dropped it about halfway when pretty much everyone was being shitty persons. I just didn't feel any reason to go on reading it.

The second trailer shows the funnier aspects of having a dome cover your town.
