And you thought he was dead:

His (hilarious) homepage:

Seriously, I still can't decide if U2K is 'serious' or not (or if he's even one person).  It's just so ridiculous... and yet, totally consistent.

He's evolving.  If I remember correctly, a year ago he was complaining about how he couldn't get into the Qt3 forums (he was having problems with the "email Tom" part).  Now that he's figured that out, who knows what he'll do next! retard

Sometimes I like non-establishment stuff to cross the forums. I said this a couple times on OO which didn't seem to please people much.

I would check out U2K's posts on OO and here at GT but to be honest I never really read that far into it. It mostly made no sense to me. Kind of like an ice cream head ache. The more you read it (and sometimes it is interesting) the more your head hurts (cause it sometimes is nutz).

Once I got to that point I just stopped reading and moved on to something else.

I'd rather not hash out ATB's bidness anymore than it has been hashed out.  Suffice to say there was a misunderstanding between my fellow Bovine and the Admins there that was never cleared up.

Here's one of his posts:

Quote
Do You Feel Safer Than You Did 6 Years Ago?

I always feel safe.

Does anyone here feel that Bush has made this nation and/or world a safer place?

Mankind can not make " This World " a safer place, yet alone a nation. In politics people will view this question only from the perspective of terrorism. But if someone is looking at the issue outside of polictis, well you will already know that millions of people have been dying, from not only violence within america, but poverty too.

The bottom line, the governments of this world can not bring peace, and even tho amercia is a nice place to lived, america is far from being great. Infact, every nation has its problems, and those who think they are in control ( The Governments ) is not really in control and they are doing a lame job in correcting the world's problems.

Is it just me or does that not sound at all like the U2K of old?

Well, he has aged a bit since we last saw him, no? Maybe that has something to do with it.

And it's definitely him - he still loves the Dreamcast.  icon_biggrin

Yeah it struck me as weird too.

Don't get me wrong, I got lotsa love for Qt3.  I love how Dev's pop up and post there... actively.  It's awesome.  It's also why I can understand why Tom would be pretty protective of who gets to post there.  I never dive into the R&P and EBG stuff though.

It's not just a one-way street -- QT3's more vocal members don't like OO (and didn't like GG).  Go read some of jpinard's early posts, you'll see it.

Rage hates them because he thinks Tom Chick is smug.
ATB had some bizarre run-in with Tom that's just going to confirm Rage's belief that Tom is smug.

I think the rest of us are either neutral or actually like them.

Why do you have to be the only person in forum existence that still calls me by a handle I last used...2 years or more ago? Anyways, I dislike Tom Chick because I find him smug and smarmy, and has no issue flaunting it. I dislike QT3 in general because I find a huge chunk of their posters to be even more smug and smarmy, self-aggrandizing, and the think we are much smarter than we actually are type that like to beat up on a chosen target as mental masturbation. Their crap is not for me.

*shrug*  I met Tom in person at QuakeCon 2005.  Thought he was a pretty nice guy...though we talked for about ten minutes before the PR team sucked him off to an interview he  was arranging.  I miss the 'Shoot Club' columns, but skip the forums.  Never even bothered, since the gaming forums on OO and GT pretty much cover all I need.  Drama?  I get enough at home.  I go to my forums to talk games. smile

His bio didn't work for me, but his blog does.  Unfortunately.

Posts about Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, The Simple Life, and Scarface is the "perfect movie."  Everybody has a blog.  Most shouldn't.

Plus having his name linked to Opera by basing his blog on their server makes me sad.  It really cheapens the name of this excellent browser.

I registered for QT3 awhile ago, and post there sporadically.  This was all I wrote in my initial email to him:

"Hello,

I'm just writing to say that I've registered a new account under the name of "Gwar21", and am requesting activation.  Thanks.

Brent"

His reply:

"Hi Brent,

Sure, come on in.  Your account is active now and welcome aboard!

   -Tom "

He just really doesn't like conservative Christians, I guess, which wouldn't surprise me given the general tone of the board.  I used to think OO was pretty strongly liberal in terms of political and religious beliefs, but QT3 makes OO look like a southern Baptist convention.

That aside, there's definitely a lot of smugness there, but there's also a lot of interesting conversation.  So, I consider it a good complement to my visits here and OO, even if I mostly just lurk there.

Eh, never had any desire to post there.  Actually, I've always wanted to PM Kitsune and tell him I enjoyed reading his posts (because it seems like he catches a lot of flak over there), but oh well.

I don't think u2k is gonna last long.

And btw, his bio...for his job he lists:  I'm in the stock market business ( started within the family side )
actor ( even tho i cant tell you who i am ) and construction work.

That's a totally random list of 3 different jobs.  It befuddles me.
